In anticipation of her plans to tape shows in New York City on Nov. 19 and 20, the Writers Guild of America, East, is extremely disappointed to see that Ellen has chosen not to stand with writers during the strike. Ellen's peers who host comedy/variety shows have chosen to support the writers and help them get a fair contract. Ellen has not. On her first show back, Ellen said she loves and supports her writers, but her actions prove otherwise. "Ellen has also been performing comedy on her show. Even if Ellen is writing those segments herself, since those segments would normally be written by the writers on strike, she's performing "struck work." Ellen is violating the strike rules that were clearly explained to all of the comedy/variety shows. "We certainly intend to let Ellen know our dissatisfaction in person if she decides to proceed with the shows she has scheduled in New York on Nov. 19 and 20. We will also make our voices heard the preceding week if she tries to pre-tape comedy segments on location.

So the question is, is she taking dopey pills this year? She get hit in the head with something? Because she keeps making these bonehead moves. First there was the whole catastrophe with the dog she adopted and gave away. Giving it away was very much against the rules, so the shelter took the dog back, making some little girl sad and giving Ellen a chance for a humdinger of an it's all about me boohoo fit on TV, instead of working behind the scenes to actually solve the problem. (Hint: Whip out your checkbook next time instead of your hanky. Most shelters need money bad.) Then after the WGA strike started, she went dark for a single day as a gesture of support to the writers - then went right back to work. A WGA member, but covered by an AFTRA contract in her current gig, she can claim that technically she's doing no wrong. Initially it was reported that she went back because fans had come from all over the country for the tapings. Touching. Then, as reported late yesterday on Deadline Hollywood Daily , "Ellen said she supports her writers but returned to work because of a) her crew and b) her company, which ordered her to, and c) a no-strike clause in her AFTRA contract." ADVERTISEMENT When Jonas filmed an episode of "Ellen" scheduled to air next week, the popular TV host offered him a helmet to protect him during falls such as the one he endured at last year's American Music Awards, People magazine reported Friday. "I hate to cover up that hair," DeGeneres told the Jonas Brothers star, "because it's good hair, but it's more important that you stay safe." Jonas had been performing with his fellow group members during the awards show last year when he tripped on a prop and landed in broken glass.
