Family Law
Experienced Divorce Attorney
Family law is closely related to divorce in the minds of most people. Although family law is a broad legal area that encompasses many topics, my practice centers on divorce and divorce-related issues. As your divorce attorney , I will assist you with concerns about where your children will live, child custody and support, and visitation rights. You may also have questions about spousal support and equitable division of marital property. Resolving Divorce Issues You should understand that the law in California is clear on these issues and that you can obtain what you require to take care of yourself and your children. I will help you resolve the issues listed above. Much of the time, I am able to do so without going to trial. However, when a trial is necessary, I am fully prepared to represent you in court. In court, your divorce attorney should build your case in a way that allows the judge to see what you require to provide for your needs and the needs of your children. I have been successful in handling that flow of evidence to effectively represent my clients. Post-divorce Modifications After the decree is issued, your life circumstances may require you to make a change in custody, visitation, support or some other element of your divorce. I will work with you to request the appropriate changes and help you to legally obtain your wishes.

Landscape Evolution Combining field observations in Montana in the summer of 1883 with his knowledge of the geomorphic literature, Davis began developing his theory of landscape evolution. He theorized that the geomorphic appearance of a given landscape is controlled by the combination of the following three variables.

Research Interests
Oxidative stress has been shown to contribute to aging and many disease etiologies, including diabetes, cancer, and atherosclerosis. The Davis Lab is interested in understanding how genomic and mitochondrial DNA are impacted by exogenous and endogenous oxidants. Our research encompasses questions ranging from 1) the initiation of DNA oxidative damage to 2) cellular damage repair mechanisms and 3) the consequences of DNA oxidative lesions on cellular processes like transcription and chromatin remodeling. Researchers in the Davis lab learn and apply techniques from Biochemistry, Biophysics, Molecular Biology, Quantum Chemistry, and Bioorganic Chemistry. Our current research focuses on the following areas. 1. DNA CHARGE TRANSPORT Our current DNA-protein complex of interest is the nucleosome core particle (NCP), the fundamental building block of chromatin. Thus far we have discovered that specific DNA-histone contacts significantly affect DNA CT. In addition to an altered guanine damage distribution, DNA CT in a NCP gives rise to DNA-protein cross-links (DPCs) between the packaged DNA and core histone proteins. Current studies in our laboratory focus on i) a molecular and structural understanding of the chemistry linking DNA CT to DPC formation in the NCP and other DNA-protein complexes, ii) in vivo interrogation of DNA CT in eukaryotic cells and nuclei, and iii) the effects of DPC formation on fundamental cellular processes such as transcription, replication, and chromatin remodeling.

Home The author ( Marty Grant ) is a 5th Great Grandson of William Davis and Frances Carpenter. Special thanks are owed to many researchers for data shared on this family. First to Orville Wright Davis who wrote "The Davis Family Record". Next to Evelyn Rice Tharp and several of my cousins who have shared data with me over the years on various parts of this family, including Joy Locke, Winona Picarski and many others. William M. Davis has written an excellent Military History of William Davis' military service (French and Indian War and Revolutionary War). Get yourself a copy of his book. William Davis was born ca 1730/1740, probably in Virginia. I think he was born either in 1733 but I don't have absolute proof of that. His 1830 census entry showed him to be in his 90's which proves he was born between 1730 and 1740. His 1840 census entry shows him to be 100 or more, so that proves he was born before 1740. These two records certainly give us the decade of his birth. Family legends tell us that he was 117 or 127 or some other very advanced age when he died. Those seem to be off by quite a bit. • American geologist William Morris Davis was a geographer, meteorologist, and geologist who devised a relative method of determining the age of a river system. Davis' method of landscape analysis considered the cyclical nature of erosion and the subsequent uplift of the surrounding land in order to determine the age of the river in relation to its surroundings. Davis later became an instructor at Harvard, but initially struggled to interest his students. He commenced a lifelong career in research and writing in 1882. In the 1880s, Davis received notice for his work in geology and meteorology , but was internationally known for his research in physical geography . Davis turned out many articles on the Triassic formation of the Connecticut River Valley and on meteorological topics. In 1889, Davis wrote a paper on "The Rivers and Valleys of Pennsylvania." In this paper, Davis introduced the cycle for river system formations that was reiterated in many more of his works. Davis believed that running water is the single most important agent in creating landscapes. At the beginning of his erosion cycle, rivers are small, shallow streams, the result of imperfect drainage of the surrounding topography. With time, the streams carve out deeper channels, widen, and contributing tributaries form. These tributaries, in turn, bring in more and more water creating larger, more powerful waterways. Waterfalls are caused by the contrast of hardness of the rocks as they are worn back. Side-streams then form their own valleys and the valley slopes increase as more
