Suggests Joseph took his nephew, Jesus, to England on his tin trading missions.
Abstract: Joseph of Arimathea, the Holy Grail and the Turin Shroud

Daniel C. Scavone suggests that Joseph of Arimathea may have gathered the blood of Jesus not in a cup but in the burial shroud, making holy grail and Turin Shroud one and the same. He further suggests that Joseph never went to England but to Edessa where the royal palace was known as Britio Edessenorum.
Discusses grail controversy. Is it a cup or a plate? Also explains Perceval's obsession. Includes 18 online images.

Strange things are happening: Joseph of Arimathea
The Bible tells us of strange things happening when Jesus died on the cross: Darkness fell when their should have been daylight, the temple veil was torn in two, earthquakes shook the land, tombs split open with dead rising from them (Mat 27:45-51). But another very strange thing that happened was that two members of the council that put Jesus to death took down the body of Jesus from the cross. At the most important moment in all of history, the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus all the disciples become secret and two secret disciples Joseph and Nicodemus become bold and open. Strange things are happening. These two men were part of the Sanhedrin, the group that orchestrated the crucifixion of Jesus. Here we find this elite religious council of seventy looking for false evidence against Jesus to put him to death. This council went to extremes to humiliate Jesus when they spit in his face and struck him with their fists. (Matthew 26:59, 67) A council involved in this abhorrent activity would seem the least likely place to find two bold heroes standing for up Jesus. Joseph of Arimathea is identified to us specifically as a secret disciple of Jesus (John 19:38). Another member of the council, Nicodemus is very strongly implied to be a secret disciple of Jesus too. Not only do we find two extraordinary disciples of Jesus among this infamous council, but also we find them at the forefront during the most critical three-day juncture of human history.

    27. Joseph And Nicodemus

Reflection upon the cross must have a distinct mental impact upon us, if we reflect upon it in sincerity and truth. There is what I would call a crucifixion compulsion; a transforming power in the cross. His sacrifice must have an effect upon those who believe it: “Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves

    Saint Joseph Never Sinned
In private revelations to Sister Mildred Mary Neuzil, the Virgin Mary appeared under the title of Our Lady of America, the Immaculate Virgin. On some occasions, Saint Joseph also appeared, and he spoke to her, saying:
“It is true my daughter, that immediately after my conception, I was, through the future merits of Jesus and because of my exceptional role of future Virgin-Father, cleansed from the stain of original sin.”
“I was from that moment confirmed in grace and never had the slightest stain on my soul. This is my unique privilege among men.”
“My pure heart also was from the first moment of existence inflamed with love for God. Immediately, at the moment when my soul was cleansed from original sin, grace was infused into it in such abundance that, excluding my holy spouse, I surpassed the holiness of the highest angel in the angelic choir.”
“My heart suffered with the Hearts of Jesus and Mary. Mine was a silent suffering, for it was my special vocation to hide and shield as long as God willed, the Virgin Mother and Son from the malice and hatred of men.”

Joseph of Arimathea is one of the more mysterious figures in the New Testament. He is mentioned briefly, by all four of the evangelists, and yet we glean little about him from the Gospel accounts.

Art and Mel Gibson's The Passion of the Christ
The Passion of Christ in Art
    By Joseph Phelan
With the annual approach of the Easter Season, Christians all over the world prepare to celebrate the resurrection of Christ. The devout are often asked to reflect on the relevance of the two thousand year old legacy of Jesus Christ.
One of the most salutary but overlooked aspects of this legacy is the influence which the Bible has had on Western art. For over 400 years, from the time of Giotto to Rembrandt, Western painting is inconceivable without the vision and the stories contained in the Bible, especially in the Gospels.
The Passion is given its first genuinely comprehensive treatments in painting in Giotto's frescoes for the Arena Chapel in Padua, and in Duccio di Buoninsegna's monumental . Both artists illustrate the significant moments of the story, as drawn from the four Gospels and from the stories that grew up around these scriptural writings.
The Passion as it is traditionally known (from the Latin for sufferings) is the story of the last events of Christ's earthly life. Episodes and details are drawn from the four separate accounts of Gospels. But almost all versions begin with his triumphant entry into Jerusalem a few days before Passover where he is hailed as the messiah by the people and conclude with his Crucifixion where he is mocked and despised a few days later. Events and men move with ruthless speed, and an inexorable tragic necessity seems to be at work.

Doubts about the validity of Christian doctrine, and religion itself, forestalled Blanco's rise in the Church. A chaplain to nuns, he became convinced that convent life was demoralizing and unhealthy. He also began to meet people opposed to the Roman Church's domination of Spanish society. As a young priest he continued say Mass and to preach regularly. He tried to hide his growing skepticism from his mother and also worried about the Inquisition which, though weaker than it had earlier been, still monitored the faith of the clergy. He later wrote of this period, "[B]elieving religion a fable, I still found myself compelled daily to act as a minister and promoter of imposture". Blanco began to consider the possibility of leaving Spain, but was deterred by his love for his parents, who "would feel devastated if I did so". In 1806 he moved to Madrid. The following year, 1807, he was appointed religious instructor to students and to the Board of the new progressive Pestalozzian school. At this time Blanco had a secret liaison with Magdalena Esquaya. In 1812, after he had left Spain, he learned that she was in need and had given birth to his son, Fernando. Blanco helped to support her until her death in 1816, paid for his son's education and obtained a post for him in the British Army. In 1808 the people of Madrid rioted against the French invasion led by Napoleon Bonaparte. Though Blanco was in sympathy with ideals of the French Revolution, his patriotism was stronger. He joined the Spanish rebels in Seville, where a provisional Spanish government, "la Junta" (the Board), had been established. With the help of friends he started publication of a political magazine
