It goes without saying, then, that the man is directly responsible for a good majority of my nightmares as a kid, and while the 2005 thriller “Red Eye” was a minor departure for the director, it doesn’t even come close to his latest project: “Paris Je T’aime,” a collection of films by 18 of the industry’s best directors all examining the City of Light and its magical allure. While out promoting the film’s DVD release, the Master of Horror sat down to chat with Bullz-Eye about his love for romantic comedies, the future of the horror genre, and why he would never direct a remake of his own film.

Wes Craven Writer and Director Wes Craven is one of the best horror movie directors of our time. He has made classics such as The Hills Have Eyes , and is of course responsible for the greatest horror movie of all time... A Nightmare on Elm Street . Although Wes Craven did not direct the sequels 2-6, he did produce the third installment, Dream Warriors and returned as director for Wes Craven's New Nightmare . He also acted in New Nightmare , playing himself. Wes Craven is from Cleveland, Ohio and because of his strict religion, never even saw a movie until he was a senior in college. He became hooked on movies and film making and quit his job as a teacher to break into the film world. He took a job as a messenger for an editor and worked his way up to being an editor himself. Soon after, he made his directorial debut with Last House on the Left , which is now among the classic horror films of all time. Wes Craven has a son, Jonathan Craven (1965) and a daughter, Jessica Craven (1968). Both children are from his marriage to his first wife, Bonnie Broecker. He now lives in Los Angeles and has a production company with his professional partner Marianne Maddalena, called Craven/Maddalena Films.
