External links Jeff Corwin Jeffrey Samuel Corwin (born June 11 in Norwell, Massachusetts ), better known as Jeff Corwin , is the host and executive producer of The Jeff Corwin Experience and Corwin's Quest , two American television shows about animals airing on the Animal Planet cable channel. He previously appeared in Going Wild With Jeff Corwin on the Disney Channel . He also made a cameo appearance in an episode of CSI:Miami , helping the detectives retrieve a human foot from inside a live crocodile , along with occasionally appearing on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and he has also appeared on the Food Network's Iron Chef America as a judge. More recently he was hired by CNN to be their environmental correspondent. Critics of Dr. Corwin believe that he places animals in danger and causes emotional stress to the animals he encounters. Many of the animal encounters on his programs are clearly staged events. Recenty in Borneo, Corwin was running and chasing at two young pygmy elephants. The four year old elephants were clearly in great emotional distress and were trumpeting in horror. Some biologists and pachedermologists consider this sort of encounters with wildlife to be unethical. Other fans find Corwin's antics to be quite amusing.

Corwin is a regular correspondent for Cooper's show, Anderson Cooper 360 , for a segment called "Planet in Peril". The duo was in Cambodia at the Phnom Tamao Wildlife Rescue Center when one elephant put Corwin's arm in his mouth and shook him. On his blog , Cooper describes what happened to Corwin as being "tossed like a ragdoll". Corwin also posted on the blog , and describes the incident in very little detail and a non-alarmist way. It's apparent from his post that he's more concerned with the plight of the Cambodian elephants than with what happened. The video is on Cooper's blog (and on YouTube ) right now, and once you watch it, you'll be amazed to know that Corwin was generally okay. His arm wasn't even broken, just badly twisted and bruised. After the incident, Corwin continued filming with Cooper and then went to get checked out by a doctor, who put him in a sling. He may have some ligament damage, but will have to wait to know for sure when he returns to the U.S. I was actually very impressed with Cooper's reporting because he didn't let the incident overshadow the real reason for being with the elephants.
