The Family WILLIAM CHASE, was born about 1595 in England. With his wife Mary, and son William, he was the first of his Chase family to cross the Atlantic. He, his wife Mary, and their son William, all from the Parish of Wivenhoe, Essex, England, accompanied Governor Winthrop and his colony in 1630, settling first in Roxbury, Mass. He soon became a Founder of the "First Church of Roxbury".
