Here, in a performance that deservedly won him an Oscar, Cage is a screenwriter who can’t control his drinking, and he doesn't want to. So with little desire to turn his life around, he decides to check out the only way he knows — by drowning himself in alcohol. It’s a dark and brilliant turn, and one where there’s little room for silver linings. Upon meeting prostitute Elisabeth Shue, audiences might think she’ll talk him out of his liquid suicide but she ultimately supports him in this ghastly endeavor, and the two find a connection that’s almost impossible to understand. “Honeymoon in Vegas” (1992) Columbia Pictures Sure, “Honeymoon” is somewhat formulaic, but it’s extremely fun and simply irresistible. Cage and girlfriend Sarah Jessica Parker are in Vegas and planning to get hitched when he suffers a bad beat at the poker table to James Caan. So bad, in fact, that the only way for Cage to pay off Caan is to allow Parker to hook up with him for one night. Cage agrees, until he finds out the one night will take place in Hawaii, and then he decides to do anything to stop them, including — and this is the scene the for which the movie will always be remembered — jumping out of an airplane with a bunch of Elvis impersonators.

Now, while he isn't getting to be a world-famous superhero, Cage will be throwing on a pair of tights, or some other form of spandex. The Hollywood Reporter has posted that the actor is in talks to star in an upcoming indie drama called The Wrestler , which will come to us from Darren Aronofsky's Protozoa Pictures. It's not some sporty tale of school wrestlers and their coach, but rather, and wonderfully, the world of pro wrestling. Cage will, hopefully, star as "a 1980s-era star pro wrestler who has become a burnt-out shell of his former self. After he has a heart attack during a small-time match, a doctor tells him he could die if he fights again." So, in the attempts to start a new life, he gets a job at a much-less-exciting deli, and gets sweet on an aging stripper and her son. "But the prospect of a rematch with his old nemesis the Ayatollah proves too tempting to resist, even if it means risking his life." The movie star, who has bought and sold many houses, paid $25 million for the nearly 0.6-acre property in 2005. The contemporary house on Newport Bay has a view of the harbor’s main turning basin. It has a stone loggia with retractable glass doors. The dock, if expanded, could accommodate boats of more than 150 feet. It’s next door to the former home of John Wayne. Cage asked $40 million for the house but never officially put it on the market. The buyer, 70-year-old Jerry Herbst, is owner, chairman and president of Las Vegas-based Terrible Herbst, which runs gas stations and other retail operations and is known for its “Bad Guy” cowboy logo.

As if poor Nic didn't have enough troubles, what with his crazy hair and general strangeness to deal with, he's also now got nutjobs breaking into his house and trying to snag his stuff while he sleeps. According to E! News , Robert Furo Jr., the man in question somehow got into the house without using forced entry, and was handed over to police by Cage at 1:30 in the morning. Furo went quietly and has pleaded not guilty to the charge of felony burglary yesterday, and is awaiting his pretrial hearing on Oct. 10th behind bars. During the course of the incident, Nic's wife and son remained asleep in their home. Yahoo January 11, 2008 Nicolas Cage A man caught just wearing Nicolas Cage's leather jacket after breaking into the actor's home has been ordered to go to rehab. Robert Furo, Jr. admitted to stalking Thursday (Jan. 10) and was sentenced to a one-month lockdown and five months in a residential home, report news sources. In addition, he cannot have any contact with Cage's family and must remain at least 100 yards from the actor's family. In October 2007, Furo was arrested for burglarizing the "National Treasure" actor's Newport Beach home. Furo, who is a tailor, was wandering around Cage's home in nothing but a leather jacket, a jacket belonging to the actor himself. Cage's wife and son, Kal-el, were home at the time. The actor escorted Furo into the backyard where he was arrested without incident. There was no sign of forced entry. Cage is an Academy Award-winning actor whose recent credits include "Ghost Rider," "Grindhouse" and "Next." He currently reprises his role as treasure hunter Benjamin Franklin Gates in "National Treasure: Book of Secrets."

Advertisement O scar winner Nicolas Cage, whose plunging career was resurrected, thanks to his sterling performance in Oliver Stone's hit film World Trade Center , will play a soldier whose Indian sojourn during the British Raj leads him to become a spiritual warrior. According to trade publication Variety , the film will be adapted from the Virgin Comics's The Sadhu written by Gotham Chopra, and will be based on a screenplay by his father, the bestselling author and spiritual guru, Deepak Chopra. The name of the director has not been announced but Gotham may direct the film too. In recent interviews, he has said he plans to direct films. This is the second instance of a Hollywood star making a deal with Indian producers. Recently, Will Smith  inked a deal with UTV's Ronnie Screwala to make films in India and Hollywood The Sadhu combines mysticism with action. James Jensen, its hero, returns home seeking revenge against the killer who has destroyed his family but undergoes spiritual transformation.
