It’s a slow, dark character piece (you must have heard the Hollywood moguls running for cover straight away) about an escort girl, a family man and his loser brother. It has an open ending and a 27 year old first time director. For some reason you agree. Why? What appealed to you about the project? Jeff Bridges: When I first read the script of Fabulous Baker Boys I was immediately impressed by it's high quality - Steve wrote a script with excellent characters and dialog that felt very real. Also, it was an opportunity to work with my brother. Apparently when you agreed to meet him, Steve actually flew out to your ranch to try and convince you. Is this true?

It's got a wonderful supporting cast that includes Joe Pantoliano William Fichtner Tim Blake Nelson , and Lauren Graham Cinematical recently attended a press junket with the film's stars Jeff Bridges and Ted Danson , who were interviewed separately. Needless to say, meeting The Dude and Sam Malone in the same day was kind of a big deal! First up was Mr. Bridges... What attracted you to the The Amateurs and the role of Andy? Jeff Bridges: Like most of the movies I get involved with, I resisted it as long as possible. I always try to figure out why I shouldn't do it, and with this one there were plenty of reasons not to do it. What attracted me to it in the first place is that it was so unusual. It put this porn aspect and this Frank Capra aspect together, and I thought that was really interesting, very ambitious. But I didn't know if this guy who had never directed a film would be able to pull it off. Also, I've done movies in the past that have a lot of characters, and I find them hard to follow and you wind up not caring about any of the people, and I thought that might be the case with this one. But my representatives kept telling me I should do it, so finally I said "Alright. I want you guys to organize a reading, and I want you to see that this thing's not going to work at all." So we had a table read, and it just flew, it was just great. I think it works very well.

While my primary reason for wanting to talk with Jeff was for some new “Iron Man” info, I also wanted to talk a bit on “Tron.” The reason for that is due to the recent rumblings that a sequel to the cult classic might actually be in the works and since Jeff is obviously as close to the film as one can be I figured it couldn’t hurt to ask him about it. Still, he's managed to star in scores of films during his 45-year career — earning four Oscar nominations along the way — playing such varied roles as a computer genius, an alien, a president, a slacker, a corpse and an ornery penguin. The 58-year-old, who divides his time between acting, music, photography and philanthropy, is back to the big screen big-time with a spate of upcoming projects. First up: the buddy flick "The Amateurs," in theaters Friday. Bridges' character, the de facto leader of a motley bunch, comes up with a can't-fail get-rich scheme for his crew: they'll make an amateur adult film. (The movie itself is sweeter and more innocent than it sounds.) Then there's the much-anticipated "Iron Man," based on the comic-book hero, which is set for release next year. Also due in 2008 is "How to Lose Friends and Alienate People," based on the book of the same name, in which Bridges plays a powerful magazine editor who quickly loses patience with his latest hire.
