Marlon Brando Early Biography in Sayville, Long Island
James Dean and Marlon Brando caused problems in Sayville when they were young students.
Brando imitated people from Sayville to develop characters, and got expelled from school.
Both Marlon Brando and James Dean spent time in Sayville . When Marlon Brando lived in Sayville, he got expelled from his school because of his bad behavior ( http://www.newsday.com/features/custom/ithappened/longisland/ny-iholi062904story.htmlstory) . The plot for "Rebel Without a Cause" was inspired by the early life of Marlon Brando and "...Marlon Brando was originally cast for the lead role." ( http://members.shaw.ca/giant/Film(3).htm ). The movie was never meant to be an actually biography of Marlon Brando, just that his story of a wayward youth was compelling and movie maker Nicholas Ray felt that Brando playing a part similar to himself would bring about the best performance. However, years went by and Brando was no longer suited for the part. This is where James Dean came in. James Dean wanted to be just like Marlon Brando and tried to live his life in his footsteps. Dean moved to New York and became a student of the same school that Brando went to. Columnist Sidney Skolsky said, "The best way to describe Jimmy Dean quickly is to say he is Marlon Brando seven years ago." and a magazine said that he was "The Boy Who'd Like to Be Brando." Name at birth: Marlon Brando, Jr. Brando changed modern acting by popularizing "the Method," a technique which emphasized emotional truth and naturalistic style. Brando was a smash hit on Broadway in A Streetcar Named Desire in 1947; in the early 1950s he was nominated in four consecutive years for best actor Oscars, winning once for the 1954 film On the Waterfront . (He was also nominated as Marc Antony in 1953's Julius Caesar , for playing Emiliano Zapata in 1952's Viva Zapata! , and for the 1951 film version of Streetcar .) In the 1970s Brando became hot all over again, winning a second Oscar for playing Mafia kingpin Don Corleone in The Godfather . In later years Brando became famous for his reclusiveness and Orson Welles -like girth. His last feature film was the 2001 heist thriller The Score , in which he was paired with Method-trained actors from two younger generations: Robert DeNiro and Edward Norton Brando's second Oscar win prompted a memorable acceptance speech. Apparently, none other than Marlon Brando himself! Yes, yes we all know he is no longer with us so just how will this happen? As far as we can tell Brando will not be CGI, but Singer plans to use stock footage of Marlon Brando that was originally shot by "Superman" director Richard Donner. Considering that Jor-El's role in Superman Returns is very minor this might just work.
Brando and Christopher Reeve were once filmed interacting with one another to be used in Superman II, (here's the deleted scene image on you left) but due to a lawsuit against the Salkinds for a percentage of the sequel, the scenes were deleted and re-shot using the mother (Susannah York) instead.

The Actor's Actor: Marlon Brando By Al Weisel Premiere, September 2004, pp. 98-104
"MARLON, YOU DID IT FOR US!"
ROBERT FORSTER, costar, Reflections in a Golden Eye The third or fourth day of shooting, [there was] a whisper. "Marlon's on the set." Everybody's eyes went to him. HUBERT CORNFIELD, director, The Night of the Following Day The first glance I had of Marlon was at the Actor's Studio. He appeared silhouetted in the doorway, a cigarette dangling from his lips. He reached up and grabbed the cigarette, blew a cloud of smoke into the room, and disappeared. SHIRLEY JONES, costar, Bedtime Story Wally Cox invited me and my husband Jack Cassidy to dinner at his home. Sitting under the table in kind of a Buddha position was Marlon Brando. I said, "What's he doing under the table?" Wally said, "I don't know. He doesn't want to talk to anybody right now." He didn't come out till close to the end of the party, and he said hello and good-bye. STEWART STERN, screenwriter, The Ugly American As we went through the countryside in a UN jeep [traveling in Southeast Asia in 1956 to research a film], he was at his absolute crest. A kid on a water buffalo would see Marlon in the front seat and stand on his water buffalo's back and start screaming to everybody else in the paddy field, "Hey, Viva Zapata!"

Marlon Brando, hailed as the greatest American actor of all time, died at UCLA Medical Center late Thursday night. The cause of his death is unknown. "Extra" has learned that paramedics were called to the 80-year-old legend's hilltop home twice last night, at 7:00 p.m. and then again at 11:00 p.m. Since the earliest days of his career, Brando had held the fascination of audiences both on and off the screen. He won two Best Actor Academy Awards and was nominated for the Oscar seven times. A devotee and early exponent of the "method" school of acting, the intense, charismatic icon influenced generations of actors, including Al Pacino, Robert De Niro and Jack Nicholson.
Brando shot to fame in the late 1940s as Stanley Kowalski in the stage version of "A Streetcar Named Desire." In 1951, Brando took the role to the big screen and forever stamped his image on moviegoers' minds while launching a career that would span half a century.

Did Marlon Brando die for the right reasons? Posted Jun 14th 2005 12:34PM by Karina Longworth
Filed under: Classics Celebrities and Controversy It's been almost a year since Hollywood legend Marlon Brando died of pulmonary fibrosis - but did he have to go when he did? Philip Rhodes, a close friend of the Godfather star, has his suspicions, and a new Playboy "expose" has his comments to that effect. The notoriously reclusive Brando hated doctors and hospitals, and recieved most of his medical care at hime, at the hands of his maid/mistress. Rhodes says he became concerned when he found out that the maid (in cahoots with her sister, a registered nurse) had been giving Marlon injections of a painkiller which enlarged his liver. "About a week before he died," says Rhodes, "They found a tremendous growth. Why hadn't that been found earlier? If they had operated, maybe he'd be alive today." But if that's the case, what's more to blame? Marlon Brando's possibly-shady lover/de facto caregiver? Or the fact that Marlon Brando was such a freak that he let his possibly-shady lover/de facto caregiver shoot him full of dope because he didn't want to go to the doctor?

    Michael Wood
Marlon Brando didn’t believe in acting, except in real life, and he took every opportunity, in interviews and his autobiography, to trash the profession. It’s tempting to say this is why he was a great movie actor, but the story is more complicated. For much of the time he performed on screen like a person who didn’t believe in acting, and threw a lot of his career away. But he also believed in acting more than he said he did, and perhaps more than he thought he did, and he occasionally worked very hard at it. The trick is that he could be really good in both modes, and it’s hard to tell the difference in quality. On the Waterfront and Julius Caesar would be good instances of the believing Brando at work.

Marlon and Kazan continued to work with each other and soon became a tag team of talent not to be taken lightly. Together, the duo released “Viva Zapata!” and the much-admired “ On the Waterfront ” about a washed-up boxer who leads a worker’s union. By the 1960’s, Marlon become a financial gamble and his box-office draw began to dimish as he became involved with undeserving projects. It wasn’t until 1972 with “ The Godfather ” that the troublesome actor was able to regain the critics' hearts. Against the movie studio’s wishes, Francis Ford Coppola cast Marlon as the Mafia boss, Don Corleone, turning out a brilliant performance that garnered him plenty of critical attention and awarded him with an Oscar for Best Actor. During the Academy Awards although, Marlon refused the award and instead sent Sacheen Littlefeather (a Native American spokesperson) to deliver a speech about the U.S. government’s past war crimes against the Native American population. Marlon continued his controversial lifestyle when he appeared in Bernardo Bertolucci’s sex-driven tale, “Last Tango in Paris.”
