Dave Foley, formerly of NewsRadio and Kids in the Hall , is hosting a new 15-minute variety show on the Internet. It's called Can't Sleep With Dave Foley and he hosts it in the middle of his night in his bathrobe. There are guests, there's music and some of the episodes have what you might call "adult content." Ben Varkentine told me about it and I'm linking to the first episode which guests Lewis Black and musicial group Rilo Kiley...
If you like that, you can watch Episode 2 or Episode 3 . That third one's recommended for Mature Audiences...as if there's anyone mature surfing the Internet. LINK

Jacob Weisberg itemizes what he calls "The Four Unspeakable Truths" about the Iraq War. I think there's an important dialogue here that this country isn't having because of these taboos. One of my best Conservative friends often rails at what he sees as a pernicious "political correctness" on the part of the Left that prevents, for example, a lot of valid points from being made about minorities because the observations are mislabelled as racism. I agree with a lot of his examples. Where we part company is that I see as much of that on the right. One cannot say or even suggest, for instance, that the death of any U.S. soldier was unnecessary or due to leadership incompetence or that it's anything but the noblest of sacrifices. I think everyone is now of the mind that something has been seriously wrong with the whole invasion of Iraq, or at least the aftermath of that invasion. It might be nice if we could discuss what exactly it was.

Media That Shaped My Life
by Rusty W. Spell Introduction "This changed my life" is a strong phrase, especially when you're referring to something silly like media. That's originally why I softened the title to "shaped my life," but lots of what I'm discussing below did in fact change my life. My life is largely a creative one, so it only makes sense that creative people and the things they created changed it. So, yes, "changed my life," but "shaped" is still more accurate so I'm sticking to that. I've structured this article somewhat as of a biography of my early creative life, though by no means a complete one. Think of the headers as key poses that the animation of the rest of my life filled in as it naturally had to. As a warning, you'll be reading a lot about me, so unless you're interested in Rusty Spell, I can't promise you'll enjoy this, but I hope you'll give it a shot. Charles M. Schulz: Peanuts Everything began with Charles M. Schulz and his Peanuts characters. Since Snoopy and Charlie Brown are everywhere, and have been since 1950, they were of course present even before any time that I can remember. My first material possession (at least one that I still have) was a Christmas ornament of Snoopy wearing reindeer antlers and his tongue sticking out, given to my mother to give to me a month before I was born. Of course, almost everyone certainly every kid likes or loves Peanuts, so I'm not special in that regard. But did they change my life? Yes. The main thing that happened at this early stage was that Schulz helped me realize what an artist was. I was just as interested in Charles Schulz as a person as I was his characters. I wasn't yet interested in his personal

    Early years and radio work
    Hollywood Walk of Fame

Animation voice work during the Golden Age of Hollywood
On January 24, 1961, Blanc was involved in a near-fatal auto accident on Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood, California. Hit head-on, Blanc suffered a triple skull fracture that left him in a coma for three weeks, and fractures of both legs and the pelvis. The accident prompted over 15,000 get-well cards from anxious fans, including some addressed only to "Bugs Bunny, Hollywood, USA". One newspaper falsely reported that he had died. After his recovery, Blanc reported in TV interviews, and later in his autobiography, that a clever doctor had helped him to come out of his coma by talking to Bugs Bunny, after futile efforts to talk directly to Blanc. Although he had no actual recollection of this, Blanc learned that when the doctor was inspired to ask him, "How are you today, Bugs Bunny?", Blanc answered back in Bugs' voice. Blanc thus credited Bugs with saving his life.
Blanc returned home from the UCLA Medical Center on March 17 to the cheers of more than 150 friends and neighbors. On March 22, he filed a $500,000 lawsuit against the city of Los Angeles. His accident, one of 26 in the preceding two years at the intersection, resulted in the city quickly providing money to reconstruct curves at the dangerous corner. At the time of the accident, Blanc served as the voice of Barney Rubble on ABC's The Flintstones. His absence from the show would be relatively brief after the show's producers set up recording equipment in Blanc's house to allow him to work from his residence. He also returned to "The Jack Benny Show" to film the program's 1961 Christmas show, moving around via crutches and/or a wheelchair.
