Biography:
Pelham Grenville Wodehouse, (1881-1975) pronounced "Woodhouse," was often also pronounced the funniest writer of two continents and at least one century (the 20th, of which he got in early and stayed...in the first one or two decades). Wodehouse, the inventor, in case anyone doesn't know, of the unflappable Jeeves, gentleman's gentleman's gentleman's gentleman, and his flappable young master, Bertie Wooster, was "Plum" to his friends (try saying "Pelham" very fast) which explains why one keeps seeing him called that. He was knighted in 1975, six weeks before his death at 93. Foul play is suspected. Collections: Novels:

    Pelham Grenville Wodehouse
Wodehouse received his education at Dulwich College, where he was a member of the school cricket team, (he would not lose interest in the local cricket tournament until many years later!). Also he practised boxing there. In this period he met gentry-folk which would serve as the main characters of his many books later. At the age of 28, not a long time before First World War, (1909), he went to America, (that was his second visit; his first had been in 1904) where he continued to write short stories and also critical reports for papers as theatrical critic. He made a serial for the Saturday Evening Post, (and for the next twenty-five years almost all his books make its first appearance in this magazine). At that time Wodehouse met people close to musicals circles, and wrote lyrics and took part in the creation of musical shows. At the same time he did not abandon writing and wrote Psmith, Journalist (1912), Piccadilly Jim (1918). At the age of 33, (1914), he married. After the war Plum continued to write books and took part not only in creating lyrics for musical comedies but tried his hand as a producer, (with differing degrees of luck).

P.G. Wodehouse, Room 108 Sir Pelham Grenville Wodehouse (1881-1975) was an English humorist who wrote novels, short stories, plays, lyrics, and essays, all with the same light touch of gentle satire. He is best known as the creator of the unflaggingly affable Bertie Wooster and his invincible valet Jeeves, but Wodehouse also produced multi-volume stories on Blandings Castle, Mr. Mulliner's extended family, Mike and Psmith, the Oldest Member, Uncle Fred, and the Drones Club. All this is in addition to his many stand-alone novels, short stories, and plays. Jeeves, the valet, ever-present, awaits your arrival to the P.G. Wodehouse room. Sir P.G Wodehouse (1881-1975)
    Biography
Sir Pelham Grenville Wodehouse was born in Guilford, Surrey on October 15th 1881 and died on Valentine's Day 1975 in Long Island, U.S.A. As a novelist he is best known for his creation of the young bachelor Bertie Wooster and his effortlessly superior manservant Jeeves. Two characters that were given new life and vigour by the television adaptation of his stories and their portrayal by Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie. Having been educated in Dulwich College, he worked for the Hong Kong and Shanghai Bank for two years before becoming a freelance writer and marrying in 1914. A prolific writer, he produced in excess of 100 novels, as well as many short stories, sketches, librettos, and lyrics for the likes of Irving Berlin, Cole Porter, and George Gershwin. During the Second World War, he was captured and interned in Germany, and in 1941 made five radio broadcasts from there to America. These broadcasts evoked deep and lasting resentment in Britain and whilst their content was largely humorous, he was branded a traitor. Eventually, his name was cleared and he moved to America and became a US citizen in 1955. He was knighted in 1975, just weeks before his death at the age of 93.

    Pelham Grenville Wodehouse
P.G. Wodehouse was a British author who was born in Guildford, Surrey but spent his infancy in Hong Kong, where his father served as a judge in the British courts. In his adult life, he spent more of his time living in Europe and the United States than in England. He became famous for creating humorous novels that incorporate a nostalgic view of England as it was for the more advantaged social classes before the first world war. Oddly, Wodehouse published separate British and American editions of most of his novels, with the American version typically appearing in the year before the British version; British and American editions differed principally in punctuation and spelling. Love Among the Chickens Wodehouse's first novel is a tale of rural life in England. (Although this title was first published in 1906, this ebook is based upon the revised edition of 1920.)
