    • Disney, Walt, 1901-1966 Criticism and interpretation. Walt Disney Company.
    Abstract:
Shortsleeve suggests that an origin to the widespread mistrust of the Walt Disney Company is that it has not changed since its initial development in the 1930s. The company's success via an Orwellian-style management while selling utopian-drive dreams of monarchical kingdoms has subliminally frightened Disney critics. To divert attention from its totalitarian tendencies, Disney has overcompensated with insincere attractions about freedom and democracy. The Disney experience is a fractured one; the Disney fan is aware of the silent tension, which creates suspicion, paranoia, and mistrust. Hardy, Rob.
