Mar 03 1847 Alexander Graham Bell 1847-1922 speech therapist, audiologist, inventor, born on this day at Edinburgh Scotland; dies at Beinn Bhreagh, Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia Aug 2, 1922. In 1870, Bell settled in Brantford, Ontario, where he developed the telephone from 1874-76. In 1876, he and his father made the first long-distance call between Brantford and Paris, Ontario. The call was routed through Toronto, so the actual distance was 109 km. He patented his invention in 1876, and founded the Bell Telephone Company. CanPix

Dramatic lighting characterizes MacDonald's soft focus head-and-shoulder portraits, which are contact prints from glass negatives. Quantity: 29 linear feet, 25 boxes Identification: PR-039
    Biographical Note
    During his Albany years, MacDonald's work was shown in exhibitions in New York, the Midwest, and Paris, including regular appearances in the annual exhibitions of the Photographers Association of America, of which he was a member. By the end of his life, he had participated in more than forty exhibitions and salons in cities around the United States and in Canada, India, England, Ireland, Belgium, Holland, Germany and France. He was represented in exhibitions at the Louisiana Purchase Exposition (1904) and the Century of Progress Exposition (1933), and served as a juror for six American and international exhibitions between 1906 and 1938. The verso of the mount board of his photographs listed thirty-three medals and awards won for his work.

    Oak Cliff Cemetery The North Addition, Section 1 and Section 2, was developed for use and dedicated in 1913.
    Inventory begins in the southwest corner of Block 3. The North Addition was laid out in blocks and numbered beginning in Section 1 and continued into Section 2. It is important to note that the block numbers are only for those in this section. These are not consecutive since some of the block numbers fall in Section 1. The two tiers were inventoried from south to north.

Letter concerns his payments for his co-authorship of Germany in Defeat : "Count Charles de Souza has written to me informing me that he regrets that he was in the wrong as regards my rights to a full half profits . . . from the sale of Volume I." Remainder consists of a detailed accounting of sums due him. Also a one-page statement, written and signed by Macfall, stating his relationship to the literary agent The Authors' Syndicate after de Souza has withdrawn from the syndicate's representation.     Officially launched on April 5, 2004, The Greatest Canadian was a project by the (Click link for more info and facts about Canadian Broadcasting Corporation) Canadian Broadcasting Corporation , to find who is the greatest ever (A river rising in northeastern New Mexico and flowing eastward across the Texas panhandle to become a tributary of the Arkansas River in Oklahoma) Canadian .     The "Greatest Canadian" was not decided by a simple popular poll, but was instead chosen through a two-step voting process.
    On October 17, 2004 the CBC aired the first part of the Greatest Canadian (Click link for more info and facts about television series) television series . In it, the bottom 40 of the top 50 "greatest" choices were revealed, in order of popularity, determined by polls conducted by email, website, telephone, and letter. To prevent bias during the second round of voting, the top ten nominees were presented alphabetically rather than by order of first round popularity.
    This second vote was accompanied by a series of documentaries, where 10 Canadian celebrities acting as advocates each presented their case for
