PRINCEVILLE TOWNSHIP
BY EDWARD AUTEN AND PETER AUTEN, JR. TOWNSHIP HISTORIES PRINCEVILLE TOWNSHIP For a time some of the highly respected business men not only voted against the anti-license party, but ran on the other ticket, and served as license councilmen. Later many changed, and even of the few highly respected ones still voting for license, very rarely is one found to allow his name on that ticket. TOWNSHIP HISTORIES last of them were completed, in that year about $600 being appropriated by the Village Council, and an equal amount being donated by the business men and the farmers who were benefited. A local telephone exchange was installed in 1901 by W. M. Keck. It is likely that the building of permanent sidewalks will continue and that electric lights and waterworks will only be questions of time. The village has issued two editions of revised ordinances, one in the winter of 1877-78, when F. B. Ferguson was President, J. G. Corbet, E. C. Fuller, J. F. Carman and V. Weber, Trustees, and H. E. Burgess,. Clerk; the other, in 1899-1900, when Milton Hammer was President, N. E. Adams, C. J. Cheesman, Peter Auten, Jr., A. C. Sutherland, Thos. Blakewell and W. S. Weaver, Trustees, and F. D. Goodman and F. W. Cutler, Clerks (Goodman resigning and Cutler succeeding). The first fire company was organized in the winter of 1875-76, and continued until 1899. Its first members were John G. Corbet, C. F. Beach, A. D. Edwards, Robert Pfeiffer, William Russell, J. B. Ferguson, Charles Blanchard, C. N. Pratt, H. E. Burgess, William McDowell, H. A. Simpson, H. E. Charles. It had in its charge, first, a chemical extinguisher; and later, a chemical and hand rail force pump, which is still in use by the new fire com-

So Many Have Already Helped
In So Many Ways!
Kudos to . . .
Robert Bruner , a Boy Scout working on his Eagle, recently organized a drive for video movies and audio books, and through his drive and diligence, collected over 500 video movies, and 100 auido books. What a great addition to our collections! Thanks, Robert!! We recently received a donation of $5,000 which was designated to pay the clerks on the Circulation Desk a really big boost in our funds! Thanks so much!! Glenn Galloway and his helper, Larry Futerfas have put in yoeman service in creation of our new library shelving from Hockaday. They have to be disassembled there, trucked over to our site, and reassembled here quite a job! And that is not to mention that all the books where they are going have to be temporarily moved, the old shelving taken out, and then the books reshelved on the new shelves. But what a difference the make!! Thanks, guys!! Terry Davenport is providing the funding for four brand-new permanent bookshelves, which will be used in the present location, and then transferred to our future permanent location, when it is built. Also for the wonderful children's table and four colorful chairs! Thanks, Terry!
Dan Lovejoy and his daughter Terry Davenport who donated money for a few months of telephone service at the UP Public Library. We're now connected to the outside world! Our phone number at the UP Public Library is 214-363-9095.

RECALL OLD ARMY DAYS : Fortieth Reunion of Men of 15 th Regiment. Observe Anniversary of Balls Bluff. Gen. J. W. Kimball Reelected President. Contributed by Charlene Olexiewicz , descendant of Church Howe The 40 th annual reunion of the 15 th regiment, Massachusetts volunteers, was in Worcester yesterday. The reunions are usually Oct. 21, the anniversary of the battle of Balls Bluff, near Leesburg, Va., in which the regiment lost 310 men, but the 21 st falling on Sunday this year the reunion was advanced to the day previous. The steady rainfall did not keep the veterans at home, and members of the regiment were present in large numbers, and beside the routine business, the splendid dinner and the speechmaking, swapped reminiscences and fought some of the old battles over again. At 10:30 a.m., the veterans assembled at the board of trade rooms, Foster street, for a business session. Gen. John W. KIMBALL, president of the regimental association, not having arrived from Fitchburg, comrade W. G. WATERS, Santa Barbara, Cal., was called to the chair amid rousing cheers. He opened the meeting by a few introductory remarks, and the minutes of the meeting of a year ago were read by Secretary Edward A. RICE, Worcester. A committee on nominations was appointed, consisting of the following:
