Grady Ward's letter to Scientology lawyer Thomas Hogan
April 17, 1998 VIA FACSIMILE AND U.S. MAIL Thomas R. Hogan 60 South Market Street, Suite 1125 San Jose, California 95113-2332 Re: Religious Technology Center, Inc. v. Grady Ward No. C 96-20207 Dear Mr. Hogan, As you know, your fax of April 15, 1998 first disclosed that the plaintiff has possessed crucial data compilations relevant to the Usenet posting facts alleged with particularity in your complaint. This was confirmed under oath in the depositions of Jean Carnahan and Rhea Smith in their deposition on April 16, 1998 admitting their role in allegedly collecting and maintaining these magnetic records since February 20, 1995 and continuously during the period at issue in this litigation begun on March 21, 1996. Coupled with the sworn statements that Warren McShane personally directed this monitoring and further revelations during yesterday's depositions proves this failure was willful. You were required to disclose a description by category and location of this data compilation and these pivotal fact witnesses during initial disclosure as required by FRCivP 26(a)(1)(B) and L.R. 16. Letter to the Editor: San Jose Business Journal, on Grady Ward
Scientology Lies My Writings > Letter to the Editor: San Jose Business Journal, on Grady Ward published October 12, 1998 Scientology saga far from complete To the Editor: Your story on Grady Ward's settlement with Scientology may have left readers with the wrong impression. On the other hand, newspaper articles, sworn affidavits, and court testimony reveal allegtions that Scientology itself is committing frightening criminal acts including false imprisonment, fraud, and extortion (see members.aol.com/jour0/investigation.html [my web site in 1998 - now at http://www.scientology-lies.com/investigation.html ] ) as directed by Scientology policy. While these diturbing accusations go uninvestigated, Scientology sics its juggernaut of well-paid attorneys on its critics. I've made sure that California's present attorney general and my congresspeople know about Scientology's repugnant criminal record.

http://home.snafu.de/tilman/mgarde/gw101196.ars
======== UNITED STATES DISTRICT COURT NORTHERN DISTRICT OF CALIFORNIA RELIGIOUS TECHNOLOGY CENTER, a California non-profit corporation, Plaintiff, vs. GRADY WARD, an individual, Defendant ) ) ) No. C-96 20207 RMW (EAI) FIRST MOTION TO COMPEL PLAINTIFF Date: Time: Courtroom: Hon. Edward A. Infante After failing to reach compromise with the adverse counsel as required by L.R.37-1(b), the defendant hereby asks the Court to compel the plaintiff to answer defendant's interrogatories number 1, 2, and 3, served upon the plaintiff on August 13, 1996. The Interrogatories are as follows: 1. List each and all whereabouts and safekeeping arrangement of each and all components of the "Advanced Technology" materials since the earliest of the inception, dissemination or reduction to tangible from of such material to the present. 2. Identify all persons and organizations who have had or could have had access to any of the "Advanced Technology" materials whether authorized or not since the earliest of the inception, dissemination, or reduction to tangible form of such material to the present. This includes, but is not limited to, custodians and guards of such materials in addition to parishioner and anyone else who could have perceived the contents of the materials. 3. Identify each and every confidentiality agreement executed by any person or organization who has had or could have had access to any of the "Advanced Technology." The reason why the defendant needs the information for all these propounded Interrogatories is similar: the plaintiff has alleged that the defendant has misappropriated the plaintiff's alleged trade secrets and the defendant wishes to prove that the plaintiff has not taken reasonable precautions under the circumstances to protect those alleged trade secrets. Unlike other enterprises deriving value from their alleged trade secrets, the plaintiff and Churches of Scientology do not simply create an independant product or service from their alleged trade secret method or process, they actually deliver the trade secret method or process itself to the final consumer that they label a "parishioner." Compare this practice to, say, a manufacturer such as Intel Corporation. Intel also maintains trade secrets in it methods and processes of its wafer fabrication and other tooling for semiconductors. However Intel does not sell the tooling, methods, or processes themselves, only the products such as microprocessor chips that are derived from such trade secret processes. Since each and every customer (or "parishioner") of the plaintiff obtains the "service" that is the essence of the Hubbard exorcism of murdered space aliens ("body thetans" or "clusters") described the public portion of the OTIII Advanced Technology, the burden of the plaintiff in maintaining adequate and reasonable safeguards on confidentiality of the alleged trade secrets is highly enhanced in scope. Rather than ensuring the security of a small group of technicians and a relatively limited physical plant in the case of the Intel Corporation, the plaintiff and related Scientology Enterprises must ensure that each and every "parishioner" or customer sign confidentiality agreements an that each and every licensee of the Advanced Technology material has itself taken such reasonable and necessary precautions to reasonably maintain the confidentiality and secrecy of the material from its very beginning. And, of course, trade secrets can fall with the weakest link. If at any time since their inception and dissemination the plaintiff or predecessor organizations failed to take such reasonable or adequate precautions to enforce the confidentiality of their alleged trade secret Advanced Technology and thereby the material was lawfully generally known, then the plaintiff loses any such trade secret protection according to California law. It very well may be burdensome to provide the defendant with this crucial information that the chain of confidentiality and reasonable efforts to maintain secrecy under the circumstances has been met by the plaintiff for works that compose the "Advanced Technology." But it is a burden that the plaintiff has brought on upon itself by the very nature of it delivering the essence of the alleged trade secrets to each and every customer or parishioner through its large number of licensee churches of scientology. By not providing this information to the defendant, he will not fairly be able to show that the material claimed as trade secret is in fact not entitled to such protection and will be thus irrevocably prejudiced in his in forma pauperis pro per defense against a wealthy and litigious cult. Respectfully submitted, Dated: October 11, 1996 Grady Ward, in pro per 1 FIRST MOTION TO COMPEL PLAINTIFF No. C 96-20207

The guy above came to set up a stereo. The protesters laughed at him because he had initially forgotten the extension cord, and then had problems to set up the music. The purpose of the music was of course to prevent the Scientologists from hearing us. The foto above is somewhat misleading: the woman's eyes do not glow, nor has her left arm been cut off. These illusions are angle / light problems. The foto above was taken through a car mirror, so it may or may not be distorted. Gene Ingram slanders me to my publisher today, 8 May 95 at 4:30 CST (CST = UTC-6)! I got a call a few moments ago from my publisher in Texas (Austin Code Works) informing me that a man identifying himself as Gene Ingram had some questions about my relationship to the NSA, Apple, Computer, The NuPrometheus League, and my finances at ACW. He spoke for ten minutes, did not identify his employer (duh!), and made statements like: "Grady is the president of ACW, isn't he?" [No] "Did you know the FBI investigated Grady for his involvement with the NuPrometheus League [a group claiming responsibility for stealing and distributing Apple Computer Macintosh ROM code in June, 1989]." "The FBI knew he did it because Grady was the only one fired [a provable lie!] from Apple in 1989." He also said I had been investigated for distributing the NSA employee's security handbook. [Probably true; the criminal cult still thinks this is a *negative* thing. Hah!] Ingram then begin to pump for financial information, such as "Does he make more than $10,000 in royalties [per annum, presumably] from MobyCrypto? Moby Lexicons? No? How about $5,000?"

Chicago-style pub hopping in Arlington Heights April, 1998 by Brian Gustafson What is a Chicago style, Chicago theme brewpub, complete with lots of Chicago memorabilia and even beers named after famous Chicago landmarks and events, doing in Arlington Heights? The answer is that it is doing very well. O'Grady's, located just east of the intersection of Golf and Arlington Heights Roads, gives west and northwest suburban customers a taste of vintage Windy City atmosphere. Walking through the front door is like being transported back in time. A huge floor to ceiling mural dominates the wall opposite the door. It portrays a view of Lasalle Street as it might have looked around the turn of the century, with a couple of exceptions. There is an O'Grady's Pub in the mural that did not actually exist at that location, and proprietors Art O'Grady and his sons Dan and David are also painted into the scene as pedestrians along the sidewalk. As you continue, you might think that you stepped into a Chicago speakeasy in 1920. The restaurant area is elegantly appointed in rich mahogany woods and red carpets and wall coverings. The ceiling fixtures are reminiscent of old brass gas lamps. Beautiful antiques are in abundance. Thick wood panels inlaid with leaded glass separate the rooms. And there is even an old upright piano in the corner. The bar is intimate, seating only 39 patrons. The dining room seats 180. Beyond the plush dining room are two banquet/meeting rooms each capable of easily seating 40 or 100 collectively in the same type of warm splendor as the dining area. The walls of these two rooms are lined with old photographs and prints of famous Chicago landmarks, events and people that were acquired from the Chicago Historical Society. There is a beer garden that is open in warmer weather that seats another 50 customers.

The Cleveland County Cattlemen's Association Dallas Ward Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship was established by Cleveland County Cattlemen's Association, Inc. (CCCA) in 2000 to support Cleveland County youth pursuing a four-year degree in agriculture with emphasis in beef production. Selection is based on leadership, character, academic merit, and financial need. Initial funding for the scholarship was provided by members of CCCA and the local business community. At the present time, scholarships are awarded in $500 increments depending upon number of qualifying applicants and availability of funds.
Purpose
The scholarship is named in memory of Dallas Ward, son of Grady and Barbara Ward of Lawndale. Grady served as Cattlemen's Association president during 2000-2001. Dallas was an exceptionally optimistic, talented, and caring young man. He competed in a variety of sports from age six through college, played the saxophone and oboe, and excelled as a student. Dallas was active in church and civic activities, and demonstrated heart-felt compassion for all living things. His goal in life was to become a veterinarian, which he was actively pursuing at the time of his death. While a junior majoring in animal science at NC State University, Dallas was killed in a tragic automobile accident. Cleveland County Cattlemen's Association uses this scholarship to support future beef industry leaders in their educational pursuits.

http://personal.linkline.com/frice/bugger.htm
Would you buy a religion from this nutty cult leader? Just what is it that constantly runs through this idiot's mind? From the archives: I believe that it was Mr. Grady Ward or Mr. Keith Henson who managed to acquire a copy of this amazing transcript fragment and I can't remember who it was that made this public record, er, um, well, public Some explanation is in order. Who are these people? What the hell is the nutty cult leader ranting off about? Let me offer what the various initials, names, and terms being used here are all about. (Actually, getting into any detail would take a long time so I'll just cover them very briefly.)
  • KH is Keith Henson , who is a long-time human rights and freedom of speech activist with a history of scientific research and space advocacy.
  • GW is Grady Ward, one of the defendants who is still snickering.
  • Graham Berry is one of the good guys a lawyer that has helped a large number of victims of Scientology get justice in the courts.
  • DM is David Miscaviage, the head of the criminal enterprise known collectively as "Scientology."
  • Yingling is a one of the many crime syndicate lawyers.

60. PGP Passphrase FAQ
From Grady@netcom.com (Grady Ward) Newsgroups sci.crypt,sci.answers (E. Dexheimer) Comments to Grady Ward, Grady@netcom.com Contributors John Kelsey
http://www.virtualschool.edu/mon/Crypto/PGPPassPhraseFAQ.html
FAQ: How do I choose a good password or phrase?
ANS: Shocking nonsense makes the most sense With the intrinsic strength of some of the modern encryption, authentication, and message digest algorithms such as RSA, MD5, SHS and IDEA the user password or phrase is becoming more and more the focus of vulnerability. For example, Deputy Ponder with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department admitted in early 1993 that both they and the FBI despaired of breaking the PGP 1.0 system except through a successful dictionary attack (trying many possible passwords or phrases from lists of probable choices and their variations) rather than "breaking" the underlying cryptographic algorithm mathematically. The fundamental reason why attacking or trying to guess the user's password or phrase will increasingly be the focus of cryptanalysis is that the user's choice of password may represent a much simpler cryptographic key than optimal for the encryption algorithm being used. This weakness of the user's password choice provides the potential cryptanalytic wedge. For example, suppose a user chooses the password 'david.' On the surface the entropy of this key (or the number of different equiprobable key states) appears to be five characters chosen from a set of twenty-six with replacements: 26^5 or 1.188 x 10^7. But since the user is apparently biased toward common given names, which a majority appear in lists numbering only 6,000-7,000 entries, the true entropy is undoubtedly much closer to 6.5 x 10^3, or about four orders of magnitude smaller than the raw length might suggest. (In fact this password probably possesses a much smaller entropy than even this for the very common name "david" would be one of the first names to be checked by an optimized dictionary attack program.)
