22. Miva Merchant: Fatal Error
It's all fun and games until someone loses a Spleen. Parts Unknown is a game of buying, selling, pricegouging and profiteering in a tiny Victorian town gone crazy. Old Man Frankenstein made quite a splash with that little monster of his, and now everybody and his half-brother wants to be the next guy to play God. Everyone, that is, but you.

We
are frontier -obsessive creatures . From America , could we be otherwise? This is not all the stuff of domination . One would hope. ? To know what is not known. This is the limit and the expanse and the ultimate undoing of all horizons
But how can we explore the spaces between understandings of things?
How can we begin to question how we remember , not what we remember?
How can we know the totality of what we do not think?
There is a problem of scale . To discuss U.S. foreign policy is to avoid discussion of the fact that we are sitting at a table. There is a problem of etiquette . That is, in addition to the Unknown , there is the Undiscussed . And we are sitting at a table . 27. Code Unknown
Review of the film by Mongoose.
http://www.haro-online.com/movies/code_unknown.html
Code Unknown (Code Inconnu) The subtitle for Code Unknown is Incomplete Tales of Several Journeys , which unwittingly perfectly summarizes the film itself. Michael Haneke's ( The Castle Funny Games ) intent was to demonstrate how complex life is, and how everything certain things affect other things. Instead, the movie comes across as obtuse, glancing into the lives of various people without anything meaningful coming out of it. There are five main stories, and none has any real resolution, some of them have no real point. It seems like Haneke is trying to tell the audience something, but it's not clear to anybody what this message is. With no discernible plot, the nearly two-hour running time seems even longer. Anne (Juliette Binoche, The Widow of St. Pierre Chocolat ) is an aspiring actress. Her boyfriend Georges (Thierry Neuvic, Les Insoumis is a news photographer who is working in Kosovo. Because of his job, the two cannot spend as much time together as they want, which is causing some strife in their relationship. Georges' brother Jean (Alexandre Hamidi, The Nest ) wants to strike it out on his own. His father works on a farm and wants Jean to take over the business, but Jean wants something different. Anne, Georges, and Jean are the white French characters in

Baldwin of Canterbury
Thirty-ninth Archbishop , a native of Exeter , date of birth unknown; d. 19 Nov., 1190. He was ordained priest and made archdeacon by Bartholomew, Bishop of Exeter. He subsequently became a Cistercian monk at the Abbey of Ford, in Devonshire, and within a year was made Abbot of Ford. In 1180 he was promoted to the Bishopric of Worcester and in the same year was elected to the primatial see by the bishops of the province. The election was disputed by the monks of Canterbury, who chose first the Abbot of Battle, then Theobald, Cardinal-Bishop of Ostia. King Henry II interfered. Baldwin, who, according to Gervase, refused to accept the archbishopric unless he was elected by the monks, was installed, and an arrangement was entered into by which, in the future, the bishops' elections were to be disallowed. He was several times engaged in disputes with the Canterbury monks, necessitating the further interference of King Richard and of the Holy See . The prior, Norreys, whom he had nominated, was deposed; but his right to appoint the priors was acknowledged.

Unknown Composers
"Unknown" isn't the best choice of word; obviously some people know about these composers, enough to have produced the records, cds, and radio broadcasts where I heard their music. Still, I think it's a useful term for what I'm trying to describe: classical music that for whatever reason isn't often heard, but deserves to be. IMHO, of course. Or IYHO, if you'd care to share your own nominees. Just send me email and I'll help you set up your own section of this page! Jimmosk's list of unfairly unknown composers, with .WAV sound clips.

James Harrison
Priest and martyr; b. in the Diocese of Lichfield, England, date unknown; d. at York, 22 March, 1602. He studied at the English College at Reims, and was ordained there in September, 1583. In the following year he went on the English mission, where he laboured unobtrusively. In the early part of 1602 he was ministering to Catholics in Yorkshire and was resident in the house of a gentleman of the name of Anthony Battie (or Bates). While there, he was arrested by the pursuivants, together with Battie was tried at York and sentenced to death for high treason. The only charge against Harrison was that he performed the functions of a priest, and that against Battie was merely that he had entertained Harrison. The judge left York without fixing the date of execution, but Harrison was unexpectedly informed on the evening of 21 March that he was to die the next morning. With Battie, he was hanged, drawn, and quartered. The English Franciscans at Douai had his head as a relic for many years.

KULT World of Darkness Unknown Armies SLA Industries ... Neverwhere Deep One 1
(c) 2001 by Robin Pfeifer
Welcome to Nyboria
This website collects material I have created for my primary hobby: roleplaying games of the darker variety. At the moment there is material available for the following game systems: KULT This is quite possibly the darkest modern-day roleplaying game ever . Humans are divine beings exiled to the illusion we call the world by a jealous god. Is there any hope for salvation now that this god has disappeared? World of Darkness White Wolf's products are probably the most famous modern-day horror RPG series and the first to outspokenly bring the narrative arts into the hobby. Delve into the dark side and become the monster you fear. Unknown Armies This game of postmodern magick is open for almost anything. Reality is a lot weirder than you might expect. Be a dabbler in the occult, a serious worker of magick or even a being of almost godlike status. But never believe you know it all. SLA Industries A dark future role-playing game set in the World of Progress . The material collected here is the basis for my current campaign, my first contact with this game.
