http://victorian.lang.nagoya-u.ac.jp/concordance.html
This Hyper-Concordance is written in C++, a program that scans and displays lines based on a command entered by the user. The main advantage of the C++ program is that it not only identifies the concordance lines but the words occurring to the left and the right of the word or phrase searched. It also reports the total number of text lines, the total word count and the number of occurrences of the word or phrase searched. The full text of the book is displayed in a box at the bottom of the screen. Each line of the text is numbered, and the line number and the term(s) searched provide a link to the full text. The Hyper-Concordance displays two pull-down boxes. The user can first choose one of a selection of authors from the box and then one from a list of the author's works. There are four limiting options displayed before searching: case sensitive, non-alphabet character sensitive, head length and tail length. The searcher can also ascertain the book's total word count and vocabulary distribution by searching without a query. I hope this web-based KWIC concordance (Key Word in Context) offers a clear survey of Victorian literary texts. Windows 2000/XP and the latest Microsoft Internet Explorer are recommended for the best and quickest viewing of the Hyper-Concordance website. Macintosh users are warned that it can take some time to run the concordance program. After clicking on a line number in the list of "hits," be patient if nothing seems to be happening. It may take a while for the complete text of a long work to be downloaded so that you can navigate in all of it.

DUN EMER
CUALA PRESS
In 1902, Evelyn Gleeson founded the Dun Emer Industries specifically for the training and employment of young Irish women. The name of the enterprise translates as "Emer's Fort," Emer being the wife of the legendary hero Cuchulain. Deeply influenced by the Irish renaissance, the products were to be made of Irish materials as far as possible and reflect Irish themes. The products were hand-printed books, embroidery, tapestries, and carpets. The Yeats family was involved from the beginning, Lily with the textiles and Elizabeth with the press, and W. B. as the literary editor The following are the Dun Emer and Cuala Press holdings in the Rare Book Collection, which holds nearly all of the 77 numbered titles. Titles which are not held are in a black smaller point type. Additional miscellaneous publications are also held and are listed after the numbered entries. The numbers are from: Miller, Liam.

J.M. Synge (1871-1909) Danny Dread On An Anniversary Queens ... The Curse
Danny One night a score of Erris men,
A score I'm told and nine,
Said, "We'll get shut of Danny's noise
Of girls and widows dyin'. "There's not his like from Binghamstown
To Boyle and Ballycroy,
At playing hell on decent girls,
At beating man and boy. "He's left two pairs of female twins
Beyond in Killacreest,
And twice in Crossmolina fair
He's struck the parish priest. "But we'll come round him in the night A mile beyond the Mullet; Ten will quench his bloody eyes, And ten will choke his gullet." It wasn't long till Danny came, From Bangor making way, And he was damning moon and stars And whistling grand and gay. Till in a gap of hazel glen And not a hare in sight Out lepped the nine-and-twenty lads Along his left and right. Then Danny smashed the nose of Byrne, He split the lips on three, And bit across the right hand thumb Of one Red Shawn Magee. But seven tripped him up behind, And seven kicked before, And seven squeezed around his throat Till Danny kicked no more.

In fact, William Brown's upbringing was not typical. From a strongly dissenting background, all the elements of his early life seemed open to challenge and discussion. 'It was as though I was nurtured in a school of religio-political argument - with Orangeism on the curriculum.' Orangeism is a culture and belief system wider than the institutional Orange Order, but the influence of the latter is beyond question. Unionism has been shot-through with Orangeism, so much so that it is often described as Orange-unionism. The author argues that the time has come for unionists to take stock. He tells a story and proffers explanations of Orangeism's eighteenth-century origins and its developing objectives during the two hundred years of its history. He explores its religious principles, comparing and contrasting these with the standards of Christianity and the Reformed Faith.
