A New Canto (1819): supposed by Caroline Lamb
Caroline Lamb was born in 1785, the third child of four, and the only daughter of an Irish peer, Lord Duncannon, and his wife Henrietta, daughter of the first Earl Spencer. Her maternal aunt was the famous Georgiana, Duchess of Devonshire, at whose house she spent much of her childhood. She married William Lamb, the son of Lady Melbourne, when she was seventeen. They had one child, a son, who was probably what we would call autistic. At first the marriage was a loving one, but as Lamb grew more ambitious politically they grew apart. Childe Harold Ne Crede Byron Glenarvon (1816) was another weapon in her war against him. The poem below may be another. It sounds rather like any number of passages from Don Juan , which is similar in tone and style, is Yes; he will make it moral, but then first He roots out from within us all morality He murders all our virtues, and the worst Of faithless sins, with such great liberality Egyptian taskmasters

By Francis D. Donovan THE LAND GRANTS OF 1649 In 1649, Dedham settlers resolved to establish a new settlement in the Boggestowe area at East Holliston. Two grants of land were asked for and received. One, on Dedham's north bound, three miles east and west, and four miles north and south, was granted by Dedham. The Great and General Court made another grant west of the Charles River of precisely the same dimensions, but when this second tract was laid out in 1650, the west boundary line north and south was only three and one-quarter miles long instead of the four miles granted. This reduced the acreage, but was accepted by the interested parties. These two grants on both sides of the river were incorporated in 1650 as Meadfield or as we know it, Medfield. In 1713, the part just west of the river was a part of the new town of Medway, and was always called the "Old Grant," and is now generally the Town of Millis, once East Medway. The first settler in this part of Medfield was George Fairbanks of Dedham, who came here in 1658. In 1702, there were only twenty-five settlers on the west bank of the river, all living in the Old Grant, excepting Henry Garnsey who located to the west.
