GLENWOOD CEMETERY
McDowell County, NC
By W. D. Floyd From Marion, NC and the US-221 Exit on I-40 go south on US-221 for about a half mile and find the Old US-221 Highway going off to the left. Follow Old US-221 to Glenwood, NC and turn east on the street just before the Glenwood School. Go out this street, Glenwood Drive and turn right at the last right before the "Dead End" sign and the cemetery will be on the right. I was there May 3, 2001 and I started in the northwest corner and finished May 4, 2001.

General Index This index refers to job numbers in Series I, Costume Design Portfolios , and portfolio numbers in Series II, Production Portfolios . Correspondence in the business records and geographic portfolios is not indexed. Each reference is followed by letters which further identify the persons indexed: (a) Author: playwrights, screenwriters, translators, adaptors, composers, lyricists, and arrangers
(c) Correspondent
(t) Theater: selected directors, producers, and theater companies
(f) Film: film directors and studios
Resources consulted for production credits include secondary sources (usually The London Stage or the Internet Movie Database ), theater programs, and information found in the collection. If full credits were not available (i.e., for productions identified only by title or date), catalogers supplied authors in some cases. A question mark precedes the job number when an attribution is conjectural. Unless otherwise stated, correspondence is located in the first folder given in the Folder List. Names in bold appear in the RLIN record.

(burials prior to 1964)
Hahn Hutchcraft [ladybug@arends-sons.com] for finding and transcribing this document for the benefit and free use of all Ford County, Illinois researchers.
The names in the book were presented in "close-to" alphabetical order, meaning they were placed within the proper letter group. I've gone a step further and alphabetized the whole list. There are 979 burials listed here.
MELVIN CEMETERY, FORD COUNTY, IL
On September 15, 1868 a petition was presented to the Board of Supervisors asking their aid in creating a new township, composed and described as the north half of township 24 north and the south half of township 25 north,
range 8 east. It was further ordered the territory set off should be known as the township of Peach Orchard.
In 1855 Joshua Nicholson planted a thousand peach trees on the southwest quarter of section 21, range 8 east. He had brought these trees from southern Illinois on a hayrack. This large peach orchard was cultivated for twelve years, when the trees died and were never replaced. This was how the township came to be named Peach Orchard Twp.
Early settlers William Holmes, who plowed the first furrow, Joshua Nicholson, Elick Nicholson, Alexander Nicholson, were among the first settlers. Then in 1867 came John Iehl, John S. Hunt, James Dixon, George
