    83. Public Notices Of Estate Settlements As Listed In The Newton Press, Jasper Co, I
Joshua C. Power. Virinda Power. Dec. 25, 1868. Edwin T. Griffey. Thos. Neal Oct 1868. Amilia Ray vs. James Newton (nonresident of Illinois)
    http://www.iltrails.org/jasper/publicnotices.html
Public Notices as published in the Jasper County Newspapers These are usually notices of estate settlements after someone's death and were required by law to be posted in the newspaper. If someone is listed here, there is probably an estate settlement case on file in the courthouse for that person. Estate settlements usually name the heirs and can be good sources of information. They can also be quite expensive to get copies of. I paid Cumberland county $25 for an estate settlement of close to 30 pages that consisted mostly of bills my guy owed and monies that were owed to him. However, the settlement papers for my ggg-gf Ellis Hicks (who died intestate) were a virtual goldmine of info giving his children's names and the names of his orphaned grandkids. Listed here are Adminstrator's Notices, In Chancery to Divorce Notices, and Bills to Foreclose Notices. Unless otherwise noted, the source was the Newton Press. Administrator's/Executor's/Administratix Notices Date Published Estate of .... Administrator 15 Mar 1844 William G. Ryan

    From: j.esteban@prodigy.net
Date: Sunday, August 29, 1999 07:39 PM I am searching for information on the family of James Albert Campbell who was born February 2, 1858 near Emporia, KS. His parents, John J. Campbell and Emily Sartin, came to Kansas from Illinois. He married Mary Elizabeth Milliss Christy May 4, 1882. Their children were Susie(1883), Harriett (Hattie) (1883), Anna Elizabeth (1885), and Carrie Ethel (1887). Mary Elizabeth Campbell died in Iola, Allen Co., KS Dec. 1, 1890. They were living in Bourbon Co. KS . by 1900. James Albert Campbell married Annie Archer in 1904. He died in K.C., MO June 8, 1940. I would also like information on his father, John J. Campbell. The 1850 census lists him in Schuyler Co., IL. He was born ca. 1821 in Kentucky. His wife, Emily Sartin Campbell, was born in Kentucky. Their children included John M, Sarah R., and Emily S., all born in IL, and James A. born in KS in 1858.
