IT is Friday, mid-morning. You are about to leave the city for a long weekend in the country when you find yourself opening your front door to four bedraggled political refugees. It is difficult for you even to recognize the weary man, woman, and two girls as people whose casual acquaintance you had made on a single previous occasion about 2 months ago, during a brief 3-day work-related visit to their country. Ancestors of Margaret Gaverigan with extensions to Cornwall pedigreed families (Great X12 grandmother of Graeme Legg) - First Page.
This page details information about the ancestors of my paternal great x12 grandmother, Maraget Gaverigan , born in 16th century Cornwall and who married my ancestor Henry Edwards . Some lineages go back to the 11th century. This initial page covers the index of names plus details on previous five generations from Margaret (great x13 to great x17 grandparents inclusive). Great x18 grandparents plus details are on this second page The majority of the information in this page has been extracted from the earlier entries in the book "Herald's visitations of Cornwall" (initially prepared c. 1620), and as such the lines of descent are only probable, and not proven positively without further collaborative evidence The information on my ancestors is spread across ten entry pages for ease of download - the initial page comprises an index of all ancestor surnames linking to tables detailing ancestry (each linking to the details of the concerned individual. Penrose Life: ash and oscillators.
ECAL 2005, Kent, UK, September 2005 . LNCS. Springer, 2005
Abstract:
We compare the long term behaviour of Conway's Game of Life cellular automaton, from initial random configurations, on a bounded rectangular grid and a bounded Penrose tiling grid. We investigate the lifetime to stability, the final 'ash' density, and the number and period of final oscillators. Penrose grids have similar qualitative behaviour but different quantitative behaviour, with shorter lifetimes, lower ash densities, and higher ocurrence of long-period oscillators.

Nature
New Journals 21 September 1995 THE EMPEROR'S NEW RAG by Jeffrey Gray New scientific journals commonly meet a need spawned by novel methods or by the opening up of a fresh field to experimental investigation. Journal of Consciousness Studies is a clear exception. There is as yet no agreed method for studying consciousness, nor even any consensus that it is yet (or ever?) amenable to scientific investigation. This new journal has emerged, rather, from a change in the Zeitgeist : consciousness is no longer taboo. As an example of this change, in 1971 I published a paper on consciousness that elicited just two requests for reprints; a quarter of a century later I am a welcome guest at conferences where I say exactly the same things! Has the field moved on, even if I have not? Is it yet part of the `art of the soluble' (in Peter Medawar's lapidary phrase)? The editors neatly duck this question by subtitling their journal ''Controversies in Science and the Humanities'' and setting its scope to cover ''all aspects'' of consciousness, including psychology, neuroscience, physics, philosophy, artificial intelligence, and social, cultural, ethical and religious issues. The result is a heady brew, although neither psychology nor neuroscience so far figures much in the mixture. This is a pity, for it is here that speculation is likely eventually to find its strongest empirical constraints. In fact, experimental data of any kind hardly figure in the first four issues. In the one exception, an intriguing report (by Nunn

The Strawbridge nieces The unique survival of the Keith House to the present day is in large part due to the careful stewardship of the Penrose family in the 19th century and the Strawbridge family in the 20th century. Both families were very much aware of the historic significance of the House. The Penroses considered it "a sacred relic of antiquity worthy of being preserved and handed down to posterity" (according to papers published in 1909). Several members of the Penrose family wrote articles for publication about the site. The Penrose family purchased 204 acres, including the Keith House, from Dr. William Smith (Elizabeth Graeme Fergusson's nephew by marriage) in April of 1801. Through 4 generations, from 1801 to 1920, the Penroses farmed the land, built their own farmhouses, maintained the Keith House and conducted tours for the occasional visitors. (for further information of the Penroses at Graeme Park see other notes in this guide manual, as well as Nancy Gentile's PENROSE FAMILY AT GRAEME PARK 1801-1920 In order to insure the preservation of this unique historic artifact; the Strawbridges donated the Keith House and the surrounding acreage to the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission in 1958.
