MOUNTAIN REST CEMETERY SECTION # 1
Kings Mountain, Cleveland County, NC
By W. D. Floyd Mountain Rest Cemetery is located in the city of Kings Mountain, NC. It is kind of situated on the south of US-74 Business and west of NC-161. It is about a block off of each. The main entrance is off US-74 Business and there is a sign at the intersection. This is called Section # 1 by the City of Kings Mountain. It is located along the fence on the east, or should I say, northeast side of the cemetery. It comes to a point at the main gate from US-74 Business. I did the audit May 8, 2001 and I started it in the eastern corner.

YOUNG SCHOOL HOUSE CEMETERY
UPTON AREA, BASTROP COUNTY, TEXAS
Submitted by Tammy Owen s LOCATION: Young School House Cemetary is located on the corner of Cnty Rd. 280 and 281 in Upton, Texas (Smithville, TX postal area.) From city of Bastrop, go west, turn left on FM 304. Go 10 miles, turn left on Cnty Rd. 281. Church and cemetery are located on Cnty Rd. 281, left side of road after the left turn to Cnty Rd 280. Plaque by the Texas Historical Commission erected next to the school house: Young School House and Cemetary
In 1872, area pioneer John P. Young (1829-1906) donated two acres of his land for a community school and cemetary. The earliest marked grave, that of W. T. Sanders, is dated 1874. Since then, the cemetary has been used primarily by area settlers and their descendants. Shortly after the land was donated, community leaders opened a five-month term school, which was named in honor of John Young. With the help of carpenter Samuel D. Sanford, this school house was constructed in 1872 of hand-hewn pine logs. Young school closed in 1907 when the rail line was laid through the Upton community (3 MI.N), and a larger school was established there. Although no longer in use as a school house the building has been maintained as a community center and has been the site of worship services for several area congregations. Young School House Baptist Church, whose roots date to 1910, continues to worship at this site. The building has been moved twice to make room for more cemetary plots.

MONTAIGNE, MICHEL DE (1533-1592)
Frontispiece portrait by
Thomas de Leu ( Essais The Pierre Le Brun collection of Montaigne was received in 1925 shortly after Le Brun's death. The collection contains copies of all of the extremely rare editions of the Essays which appeared during Montaigne's lifetime. The earliest is 1580, the first edition, published at Bordeaux. Besides Montaigne's works, there are also critical secondary works. For particulars refer to: Imbrie Buffum, "Special Collections at Princeton; II. The Le Brun Collection of Montaigne" in the Princeton University Library Chronicle I, 2 (February, 1940) pp. 11-16 [full text] Also consult the following bibliography: Sayce, R. A. and David Maskell. A Descriptive Bibliography of Montaigne's Essais 1580-1700. London: The Bibliographical Society [and] the Modern Humanities Research Association, 1983 [(ExB) Z8589 .S29 1983]. The bibliography lists 37 editions (including variants within that count.) Of the 37, Princeton has 24, evidently the second largest such number for the United States.
