Over the years the business grew progressively concentrating mainly on works and schools contracts in the county of Roxburghshire. In 1992 in a joint operation with Austin’s of Earlston the tender to operate the Border Courier service was won for a 5 year period. The only other venture into local bus service operation was a Wednesday, Friday and Saturday only service linking the Borders General Hospital with Lilliesleaf and Hawick. By 1998 Jimmy had an eye on retirement and as the family did not want to continue in the business, it was put up for sale. On 1st July 1998 the business was sold to Ewan Farish and Donald Cameron. Previously area managers with First Group, Ewan and Donald each had almost 30 years experience in the bus industry. The business consisted of a small garage workshop, yard and 8 vehicles (3 coaches, 3 mid-coaches and 2 mini coaches). The work consisted of 5 school contracts, 1 works contract and the Wednesday, Friday, Saturday bus service. One person was employed full time as a driver - mechanic, three part time drivers were also employed.

Ramblers' Association Scotland Helensburgh and West Dumbartonshire Group We are a local group of the Ramblers' Association which promotes rambling, protects rights of way, campaigns for access to open country and defends the beauty of the countryside in England, Scotland and Wales. In our following programme we include walks that will offer something to suit all tastes, from hiking up Munros to a comfortable stroll, so don't be put off by lack of experience; all walks are graded for difficulty in the programme. We aim to provide an easier grade (C) walk each weekend there is an A grade walk on the programme. We are always looking for new walks and leaders. If you have suggestions for other walks that you would like to see (or lead) then let us know. If you would like to come with us on a walk, check the programme , read the Important Notes and then contact us ; we do not provide names / telephone numbers of leaders in our programme. If you need a lift we may be able to arrange that as well.
