My Task
Maude Louise Ray
To love someone more dearly every day,
To help a wandering child to find its way,
To linger o'er a noble thought and pray,
And smile when evening falls,
And smile when evening falls.........
This is my task.
To seek for truth as blind men long for light,
To do my best from dawn of day till night,
To keep my heart fit for His holy sight, And answer when He calls, And answer when He calls.......... This is my task. For PDF version (better printouts), click here More midis, mp3s Index

For further information contact Edson Beall via voice (202) 354-2255, fax (202) 371-2229 or E-mail: edson_beall@nps.gov Dear Colleagues: The National Register Archives Collection at 800 North Capitol Street, Washington, DC, WILL BE CLOSED until further notice. As many of you are aware, the National Park Service is relocating its offices beginning on August 9, 2002. Our move coordinators anticipate that the process of boxing up the National Register archives, dismantling the machines, moving the files and equipment, reinstalling the machines, and refiling the nominations will take 20 -30 days. We anticipate completing the project by the end of August and hope to be up and running by early September. As a result, the National Register will not be able to process any requests for copies of nominations or determinations of eligibility until completion of the move. While the National Register will continue to process and list new incoming nominations, the archive collections will not be available for use.

BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH
Cory and his wife had five children: Rosa Belle (1859-1910), Hannah Adelia (1860-1940), Clememt Alexander (1863-1935), Maude (1866-1952), and Lenora (1870-1947). Clement Alexander married Cora Elizabeth Holland and had one son, Alexander Johnston Cory, who now resides in Lexington, Kentucky. Hannah Adelia sang for local entertainments and married Maynard Irwin, publisher of the Brookville Democrat
SCOPE AND CONTENT
Adelia and Ethel Irwin's musical interests are represented by several broadsides and programs advertising their performances. Much of the remaining material is focused on the Andrews' interest in writing and the Western Association of Writers (WAW). Besides several convention programs of 1887-1901, three scrapbooks of poems and articles about the group and famous writers have been preserved. Other related items are an essay by Benjamin S. Parker, evidently meant to be read at some unspecified WAW convention, an accompanying letter to Mrs. Andrews, and a letter from a nephew of James Whitcomb Riley requesting copies of the writer's letters to Mrs. Andrews. One other literary feature is Charlton Andrew's book

T29N R44E Sec 18 Contributed by Maggie Rail, Jan 05, 2000, last edited Mar 28, 2002 [ mrail@asisna.com ]. Total records = 522.
Located about 1/2 mi. west of the town of Elk, WA. Plat book S. page 10, in the Spokane County Court House says - NW corner of NE 1/4 of Sec. 18 Twp 29N R 44E, containing 4 acres. The cemetery was dedicated Apr 11, 1921. I first transcribed listings from "Spokane County Rural Cemeteries" vol. 3, pub. 1963 by EWGS. I have now read this cemetery and added my readings to this first account of Elk Cemetery #1. I walked the cemetery on Jul 15, 1999 which included about 297 additional names. Up to date records from the current Elk Cemetery Association were unable to be obtained, some privacy issue with them. I again visited in the summer of 2002. This cemetery is still used and well maintained, however it is not a perpetual care cemetery. The day I read it the first time, they were making plans for a burial the next day. I do not have locations on all of the burials.
