Thomas Kohein

Birth* Thomas Kohein was born bet. 1841 - 1842 at Ireland.  At the time of his enlistment in the 15th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry, in 1863, Thomas gave his occupation as sailor.  On 31 Jul 1863 Thomas mustered into service with the 15th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry as a draftee, being credited to the quota of unknown.   On 23 Apr 1864 Thomas ended military service with the 15th Massachusetts by transfer to the U. S. Navy, but no service found at the Navy Department.

Name Variation Edmund Kremm was also known as Edmund Krenn in Ford's history.  Birth* He was born bet. 1834 - 1835 at unknown.  At the time of his enlistment in the 15th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry, in 1863, Edmund gave his occupation as butcher.  On 30 Jul 1863 Edmund mustered into service with the 15th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry as draftee.   On 20 Aug 1863 Edmund ended military service with the 15th Massachusetts at Morrisville, Fauquier County, Virginia, by desertion.

3. Knottingley (secondary barrow inhumation) The battle of Winwaed (Winn wood) is also sited in the area, possibly on the river Went near Wentbridge 3km to the N.W. of Middle Field. This battle according to The Anglo-Saxon Chronicle took place on the 15th November 655 A.D. between the Anglian Northumbrians under Oswy (Osuiu) who were the victors and 30 legions of Mercians, East Anglians and Welsh under the pagans, Penda, Athelehere and Difid (David) respectively who met at the river.
It was normal for the Welsh Britons to fight on horseback but for the Anglians it was not a tradition. It was also common to attack on river crossings where a tactical advantage could be gained.
