THIS IS A LIST OF GREAT QUOTES. NEW QUOTES WILL BE ADDED ALL OF THE TIME! A journey of a thousand miles starts in front of your feet.
Lao-Tzu
There is no such thing as a 'self-made' man. We are made up of thousands of others. Everyone who has ever done a kind deed for us, or spoken one word of encouragement to us, has entered into the makeup of our character and of our thoughts, as well as our success.
George Matthew Adams Friends are God's apology for relations.
Hugh Kingsmill
There are two days in the week about which and upon which in ever worry. Two carefree days, kept sacredly free from fear and apprehension. One of these days is Yesterday....And the other day
I do not worry about is Tomorrow.
Robert Jones Burdette
When a torrent sweeps a man against a boulder, you must expect him to scream, and you need not be surprised if the scream is sometimes a theory.
Robert Louis Stevenson A conservative is someone who demands a square deal for the rich.
David Frost If happiness is activity in accordance with excellence, it is reasonable that it should be in accordance with the highest excellence.

http://xroads.virginia.edu/~CAP/PALACE/consumer.html
The movie palaces of the '20s, '30s and '40s seem unbelievably extravagant when compared with the movie houses that came before and after, but when they are contextualized within the rise of America's consumer culture and placed alongside other public buildings of the period, their extravagance becomes 'readable'. The United States pioneered an economy based on mass production and was the first country to create mass consumer institutions and mass consumer entertainments. The picture palace is one manifestation of this. Corporations proliferated in nineteenth century America apace with industrialization and encouraged by relaxed governmental restrictions on corporate businesses. Corporatization and industrialization in the U.S. led to increasing stratification of wealth and class. The power of the wealthy elite became physically evident in the palatial homes of the robber barons and in the growth of cities. As Alan Trachtenberg has noted, the growth of cities was neither haphazard nor democratic, but responded to the power of organized wealth as spaces became segregated by function, class, and income in urban America. Trachtenberg also labels the public architecture of this period an "architecture of a new cultural imperialism" as wealthy proprietors and homeowners decorated structures with an eclectic mixture of European, Eastern, and Asian styles.(1) As corporatized mass production replaced localized, smaller units of production, Americans became more dependent on wages, salaries, and currency. Systems of barter and exchange which had supplemented currency in eighteenth century American households dried up. In middle class households, as historian Jeanne Boydston has noted, this translated into new roles for husbands and wives: husbands became 'breadwinners' and wives became managers of the domestic economy whose chief task was to stretch the dollars their husbands brought home. In lower class families, this division was elided as often the labor of all able-bodied members of the family was required to earn enough cash for city rents and food.

HEDGING DIESEL PRICES
As many of you will have read in the last newsletter, FNA has been working with our fuel supplier in Saskatchewan and Manitoba in regards to locking in diesel prices for members that are interested. All of our members have the opportunity to lock in as much fuel as they want, as long as delivery is taken by October 1st, 2001.
For members in Alberta we have a different fuel solution but one that is probably the best-priced fuel in Alberta. What's happening in the Market?
What we have been discussing with many of our members is that there is a good chance the fuel markets may start to move upwards again. We had initially thought the markets were going to continue moving down, but the American economy is driving the prices back up. The downswing in the American economy over the last 2 months was largely responsible for the decreasing crude oil prices during that time. However, that country's economy is not in quite as bad of shape as originally thought. What this means is that the expectation of more vacationing by the American public will increase the demand for fuel. Currently, refineries are taking oil that would normally be used for diesel production and are using it for gasoline production to prepare for the expected increase in demand. What does this mean for pricing?

While reflecting Calvinist puritanism, Althusius stressed that each social group is to be justified by providing a full and happy life for each of its members. God-forum/quotations/quotations-1 Quotations AANHALINGS “By spiritual I mean the ancient and abiding quest for connectedness with something larger and more trustworthy than our egos – with our own souls, with one another, with the worlds of history and nature, with the invisible winds of the spirit, with the mystery of being alive.” Richard Wolman:, Thinking with your soul " I am affected only by my thoughts . It needs but this to let salvation come to all the world. For in this single thought is everyone released at last from fear." (A course in Miracles, The Foundation for Inner Peace, Huntington Station, N.Y. Lesson 228, p. 461.) The happiness of your life depends upon the quality of your thoughts: therefore, guard accordingly, and take care that you entertain no notions unsuitable to virtue and reasonable nature... Marcus Aureleus (121-180) Roman emperor (161-180) Great people are they who see that spiritual is stronger
than any material force, that thoughts rule the world.
Ralph Waldo Emerson "Your vivid creative fancy evokes illusive Gurus and chelas, and puts into their mouths words coined the instant before in the mint of your mind, unknown to yourself. The false appear as real, as the true, and you have no exact method of detection since you are yet prone to force your communications to agree with your preconceptions." . . .Koot Humi
