This photograph is the perfect dichotomy between transportation of yesterday and today, as well as the dichotomy between one way a nation was ruled back then vs. today. Marcus Aurelius (121-180 A.D.) was considered one of "Five Good Emperors" in addition to Nerva, Trajan, Hadrian and Antoninus Plus. Their reigns were marked with peace, prosperity and internal stability. Marcus Aurelius was also schooled in Eastern philosphy (Stoicism), thus he became known as the Philosopher Ruler. He also became one of Rome's most popular Emperors. History reader, Sean O'Brien calls Marcus Aurelius "One of History's Greatest Men."

From Insult to Insight: Rudolf Steiner’s Meditative Technique
By Derek Cameron In the mid-1890's Rudolf Steiner (18611925) was repeatedly hurt by personal remarks made by his close friend Moritz Zitter (d. 1921). Even when recounting the incident a quarter century later, Steiner would still not admit his friend's observations contained some truth. Yet Zitter's stinging criticism forms a plausible trigger for the revolutionary psychological and spiritual changes Steiner underwent during 1896 to 1897the period he himself described as that of his "profound transformation." Steiner was thirty-five years old and a respected scholar with a Ph.D. in epistemology. He had edited the scientific writings of Goethe (1749-1832) for both the Kuerschner and the Weimar editions. He enjoyed discussing esoteric subjects with his more thoughtful friends and considered himself an expert on these topics who was already in possession of cutting-edge knowledge denied to lesser beings. And then came the insults. Zitter wrote Steiner several times to the effect that he was merely intellectualizing his feelings. In fact, Zitter said to Steiner, you are so absorbed in your thoughts that you often appear to be scarcely human.

The Perspective

Atlanta, Georgia May 31, 2002
As I was surfing the Internet the other day, I came across an article published by The News newspaper in Monrovia in which it was reported that the offices of the “Liberia for Jesus Crusade” had been burglarized, and that the Crusade’s National Coordinator, Rev. Kortu Kaye Browne had complained that the burglary created a major setback to the information and data system of the Crusade because "all information and data about the ...crusade, from last year to last weekend, were taken away during the commission of the crime."
Seeking justice is not a matter of choice. It is an obligation. Because as people of conscience, we are compelled to expose all injustices, regardless of who commits them. And those of us who professed to be the followers of Christ, it should be within our nature to do GOOD; to treat others as we would have them treat us. We should do GOOD at all times because it is the RIGHT thing to do, not only when it suits our interest. This is why some of us find it hard to overlook or remain neutral in matters that involved the violation of the rights of others, like in Liberia, Sierra Leone, and anywhere atrocities are committed.
In short, it is not enough to say let bygones be bygones as most Liberians are inclined to say. It is one think to say let bygone be bygone, but quite another thing to reconcile and break bread together. However, if an individual who knowingly or unknowingly commit a sin and wants to be forgiven by others, that person must first be willing to confess to the sins he or she has committed, and then go on to repent for said sins.

A Timeline of Hellenistic Philosophy
Dr. Cynthia Freeland
Introduction
"Hellenistic" refers to a broad time period roughly from the death of Aristotle in 323/2 B.C.E. up through the second century C.E. During this period the centers of intellectual inquiry in many fields shifted from Athens to other regions around the Mediterranean, as political power shifted, including both Rome and Alexandria in Egypt. The term "Hellenistic" derives from the Greek word " hellenizo " which means to "act Greek" or "Greekify." In short, this is a time period in which literature, art, architecture, and philosophy were all acutely conscious of a debt to (and sometimes feelings of inferiority to or derivativeness upon) classical Hellenic culture. In philosophy, the Hellenistic period was exceptionally rich and varied. Both the schools of Aristotle (the Lyceum) and Plato (the Academy) continued in Athens for some time; the Academy remained open until the 6th century C.E. There were important new discoveries in medical science and astronomy, among many other fields. Three new schools of philosophy arose, all claiming inheritance from Socrates (pictured at left above) as their chief inspiration. The Epicureans sought to live a simple life devoted to simple pleasures, conversation with friends, and the pursuit of prudence or wisdom as the key to living well. The
