Delaware County, NY Genealogy and History Site transcribed by Les and Dorothy Howland, California please wait while 243K loads The following records are courtesy of the Roxbury Library Associations History Room . Hard Copies of such records are available for viewing and duplication during normal library hours. This compilation is from the notebooks of Amy Gavette and was done in the 1960s . It was manually typed on typing paper. Needless to say some of it is faded and coping it is difficult. If dates don't match you may have to go to the Roxbury Library and see the originals, they too are starting to fade. This is not a public library, they run on support from their patrons and the History room is run by donations, and for such a small room it is packed full of information on the town of Roxbury and some Delaware county information. This listing of burials in a Colorado cemetery is a listing of only the burials where the headstone, or an associated marker, has an indication that the person belonged to one of the following organizations, or was a relative of the person who belonged to the organization. It is not meant to suggest that it is a complete listing of everyone buried in the cemetery, nor a listing of everyone from those organizations who is buried in the cemetery. For the most part the organizations began putting the identification on the tombstones in about 1880 and quit about 1935, though a few are occasionally seen with later death dates. Abbreviations WOW = Woodmen of the World MWA = Modern Woodmen of America Women = Women of Woodcraft Neigh = Neighbor of Woodcraft WC = Woodmen Circle SFWC = Supreme Forest Woodmen Circle * Upright stump. # Fancy horizontal sandstone log + Other odd shapes, ie., urns, balls, pillars

VILLAGE OF ILION CEMETERY
Part 3
Town of German Flatts
Herkimer County, NY
The list of the large Village of Ilion Cemetery on Benedict Avenue, in the Town of German Flatts, was donated to us by Susan Perkins of the Herkimer County Historical Society. At the time the reading was taken, the readers were able to discern 3,251 unique stones or named vaults! Names were not written down in any alphabetical order but in the order in which they started reading the stones. Since early Mohawk Valley surnames, as well as those of later 19th century immigrants, are well-represented in this cemetery, we expect many visitors to this site to find a family member. If you do, or know the relationships of people who rest here, we'd appreciate it if you'd give something back to this site by sending the site coordinators info about who you find on this list. Your information will also be posted on line in a footnotes section. If you find someone and don't have further information, a search can be ordered from the Herkimer County Historical Society.
