Anne Bonny's Shipwreck Page Welcome to my shipwreck page!
I have always had a fascination for shipwrecks, and this will be my special page just for this purpose. The Titanic , of course, will have a page of her own, so do not look for her here. I prefer to focus mostly on Pacific Coast shipwrecks. If you have a particular shipwreck you'd like to see here, or if you have any questions- just

The
Peter Iredale , Clatsop Spit, wrecked October 25, 1906. For those of you interested in the recent wreck of the New Carissa near Coos Bay, OR, I plan to put in an entry here as time permits. Keep checking. Francis H. Leggett One of Oregon's most tragic shipwrecks happened on September 18, 1914, a black day in Pacific maritime history.
The steamer Francis H. Leggett left Grays Harbor bound for San Francisco with a load of railroad ties,
carrying 67 passengers and crew. About 60 miles southwest of the Columbia River, the steamer was caught in strong winds from the southwest.
The storm growing, the ocean's waves rose to unprecedented heights, pitching the ship so that no one could keep their footing.
Wave after wave crashed over the decks with horrendous force as the wind velocity continued to climb.

Singleton Researchers
In October 1998, two descendants of William S(h)ingleton discovered each other through the internet. An informal research group was quickly established as other Singleton researchers began to find our web site. The purposes of our research team are to shared records, ideas, encouragement, and suggestions, as well as to find other Singletons connected to our lineage. We don't measure how much a member contributes as we put this family "puzzle" together. Each person brings to the group whatever information has been collected and freely shares with others. We welcome other Singletons connected to our family to join our team. If you'd like to join the Singleton researcher group

Company Profile Our Past - Creating a tradition
In 1967, J. Ernest Kite, a longtime Cincinnati food broker, recognizing the tremendous potential of the foodservice industry began a series of food company acquisitions. Most notably were the Francis H. Leggett Company, a seven state retail distributor and Ellenbee Foods, a strong school and health care supplier. Building on the sound history of these two firms, Ellenbee Leggett was founded. By 1980, with the addition of several more quality food specialty firms, combining over 100 years of experience, Ellenbee Leggett had established itself as a leader in the region's foodservice industry. Thus the tradition of quality and service, initiated almost 30 years ago, thrives today and with determination, will flourish tomorrow. Our Present

thanks to Will Sousae A new preschool has recently begun operation in Evergreen at St. Francis of
Assisi Church. The preschool came about through the efforts of a group of
dedicated parent volunteers who first identified the need and then developed
the program with the assistance of the church staff. The chairperson of the
team, Cary Colleran states, "After five years of planning it was so exciting
to receive our license, open our doors, and to see the smiles on the faces
of the children and parents". The preschool is one of thirteen preschools
overseen by the Department of Catholic Schools Office of the Diocese of San Jose, and the first to be opened in Evergreen. The preschool is unique in that it provides a part-time program for children ages 3-5. During the school year parents have the option of choosing a

Mabel MacLeod Mabel MacLeod is mentioned in the biography I wrote as Mabel, a cousin of Josephine MacLeod and her sister, Betty. Vivekananda mentioned Mabel by her first name in several letters which have been published, so it was obvious that he knew her, but I had no idea how well. So Mabel MacLeod 's father was the uncle of Josephine and Betty MacLeod, and their father was Mabel 's uncle. Though Mabel, Joe, and Betty were first cousins, they were far apart in age. Betty was the oldest, born in 1852, Joe was born in 1858, and Mabel in 1870. Mabel was actually closer in age to Betty 's daughter by her first marriage, Alberta Sturges, who was born in 1877.

International Anglican Liturgical Consultation - 1999 meeting
1. September 1999 Meeting
Anglican Communion: International Anglican Liturgical Consultation 1999 International Anglican Liturgical Consultation Kottayam 99 Notes on a conversation among Anglican liturgists at Kottayam, India, 13-18 August 1999
1 Beginnings
Ronald Dowling opened the meeting with prayer, welcoming participants and especially representatives of local churches. He read letters from the Archbishop of Canterbury, from a members of the Lambeth Palace staff, and from John Peterson, Secretary General of the Anglican Consultative Council. Participants in the meeting introduced themselves. Ronald Dowling welcomed John Baldovin SJ as ecumenical partner Ronald Dowling expressed regret for the circumstances which prevented the attendance of some who had intended to be present, including Solomon Amusan, Ellison Pogo, Richard Leggett, Anthony Aarons, Francis Wickremesinghe, Robert Okine, Enrique Illarze, Orlando Santos de Oliveira, Alfred Kariboni, Tessa MacKenzie, and Azad Marshall. The meeting agreed to send good wishes to these absent colleagues. Ronald Dowling reminded members that he had originally advised them to obtain tourist visas. Later he was told that they should apply for conference visas and notified them accordingly. Later still he was advised to return to the original suggestion that applications should be made for tourist visas. Unfortunately, a number of those who had applied for conference visas in the interval were subsequently refused. The reason for the shifts in advice was a change in government and in government policy.

  • Town of Marbletown Located in the central part of the county, it was one of the original five townships in 1683. Old soldiers of the Indian wars and veterans of the English Army who came in 1664 received grants there from the government in 1670 and settled in a village at what is now called North Marbletown, but soon scattered and took up the outlying land for farms, which in some cases they bought of the Indians.
The town lands, covering the area of many of these purchases, were granted by Queen Anne to the town trustees, June 25,1703, and were reconveyed by them to settlers. Prices for land at this time were twelve pence an acre for lowland, six pence for upland. It has always been an excellent farming country.
One hundred eleven slaves were listed in the town in 1755. A remarkably large proportion of the early names, such as Van De Mark, Schoonmaker, Krom, DeWitt, Bogart, Davis, Hardenbergh, Hasbrouck, Roosa are found in town today. Prominent early English families were the Ashfordbys, Gartons, Nottinghams, Pawlings and Brodheads. John Beatty, an Irishman of aristocratic lineage, married Susan Ashfordby and built the first house at Stone Ridge.
Government by regularly elected town officials began at least as early as 1711. The regulation of matters relating to town property and perhaps some civil administration is recorded from 1703 onward. As in New Paltz and Rochester, the two governing bodies functioned simultaneously.

Your browser does not support script Settlement Contracts Not Valid until the Release Is Signed and Returned? By Patrick Anderson
On October 20, 2004 , the court of appeals decided American National Property and Casualty Company v. Nersesian, i a case that has been ordered published, which seems to hold that a pre-suit settlement agreement, even if confirmed in letters, is not binding until the release is signed and returned to the insurance carrier. The letter of the paralegal also included a W-9 form, which provided ANPAC with the taxpayer identification number of the Gimbel Firm so that the settlement checks could be issued. This will confirm settlement of this case for a total payment of $17,725, including any and all liens known or unknown. Per your request, we have cut two settlement checks. Also enclosed is a Release. I ask that you return the signed, notarized Release before negotiating the check. In December of 2001 and January of 2002, Nersesian alleges that he began suffering from additional medical problems. It was these alleged problems that caused the Gimbel Firm to retain the checks without cashing them, and holding the release without returning it to ANPAC. The Nersesians concluded that the additional problems were related to the automobile accident, and as such, attempted to reopen negotiation. ANPAC, believing that a settlement agreement had been reached as of December 20, 2001 , or at the latest January 4, 2002 , commenced suit on October 7, 2002 , to enforce the settlement.
