University of Toronto B.Sc. 1980-1984 University of Colorado Post-Doctoral Fellow (s) 1988-1992 Research Interests: Research is conducted to prove the hypotheses proposed in the following 3 NIH funded projects. Tamoxifen remains the endocrine therapy of choice in the treatment of all stages of hormone-dependent breast cancer. In addition, large-scale clinical trials are in progress to determine the potential of tamoxifen to act as a chemopreventive agent in women considered at high risk for developing breast cancer. However, several studies have raised concern over the safety of chronic treatment with this drug. Alternate antiestrogens including droloxifene, toremifene, and idoxifene, may not be genotoxic probably because of different routes of metabolism which could lead to a decrease in amount and/or type of ultimate carcinogen(s). The central hypothesis of this project is that the formation of reactive intermediates is an important mechanism of carcinogenesis and/or cytotoxicity for certain antiestrogens.

Message to Readers I attribute my writing career solely to two portions of my anatomymy nose and my chin. A friend commented that I read so many romances, I should be able to write one myself. Well! Up went the nose, out went the chin, and I said, "All right, I will." And I did. Subsequently, when my dad asked me why I’d been writing such short letters home, I told him I’d been writing a book, and had finished it. He said, "So, what are you going to do with it? Leave it in a box under your bed?" There they went again, the nose and the chin. I said, "I’m going to sell it to a publisher." And I did. I know now it’s not supposed to be that easy, or this much fun, but since I didn’t know it then, there was nothing to hold me back. People often ask where I get my ideas. The answer probably varies with my mood and the circumstances. Most of the ideas, though, come from out of the blue, for instance, a snippet of overheard conversation triggers my imagination. One of my earliest books, A HARVEST OF JEWELS, came about when, as the sun burst through the clouds after a rainstorm, highlighting with brilliant, varied colors, each little water-drop on a small tree, my father called a guest to come and help him harvest the jewels.

warm heart. We know him to be a correct, able preacher of the gospel,
and an efficient fisher of men. Having thoroughly prepared himself
for his work by courses in Northwestern University and Garrett Biblical
Institute, by travel in the South and West of our own country, and by a

66. Judy Berlin
A review of the film by Mongoose.
http://www.haro-online.com/movies/judy_berlin.html
Judy Berlin Judy Berlin is one of those strange movies that critics will heap adoration upon, while general audiences will most likely scratch their heads in wonder. It is not really a movie about anything more than they human character. The pacing is slow, the characters are annoying, but it is an interesting examination on how normal people interact with each other. Judy Berlin is the first movie for writer/director Eric Mendelsohn. Everything focuses around a solar eclipse that lasts longer than expected in Babylon, New York. Judy Berlin (Edie Falco, Bullets Over Broadway, HBO's The Sopranos ) is a wannabe actor, getting ready to head out to California to break it big. Her mother Sue (Barbara Barrie, Hercules , NBC's Suddenly Susan ) is a schoolteacher whom everyone hates. She is short with her students and disrespectful to her peers. Her principal, Arthur Gold (Bob Dishy, Used People, Critical Condition ) is living unhappily with his clueless wife Alice (Madeline Kahn in her final performance) and son Adam (Aaron Harnick

I completed my PhD in June 2001, supervised by Dr K. Chen in the Applied Mathematics Division of the Department of Mathematical Sciences at Liverpool University. My thesis, Wavelet-based preconditioning of dense linear systems is concerned with preconditioning techniques for non-sparse matrices that arise in certain industrial applications (in particular in Elastohydrodynamic Lubrication problems). I have given talks on my work at the 16th IMACS World Congress in Lausanne in August 2000 and at an LMS-sponsored colloquium at Liverpool in March 2000. Judge Judy, Judge Mills Lane, and Judge Joe Brown are all briefly profiled on this page.

Courtroom T.V Shows
This page is dedicated to some of the best television shows ever!!! Those, of course, are the T.V. shows that take place in a courtroom. The first of these was The People's Court with Judge Wapner. But now he's on some animal court show, so we won't even consider him. Then came my favorite Courtroom Show.... Judge Judy is by far the best judge to ever be on T.V. Judith Sheindlin began her law career in 1972 as a prosecutor of juvinile cases in New York. Judge Judy was appointed to New York's Family Court as a judge in 1982 by the mayor of that time, Ed Koch (Who happens now to be the judge on The People's Court Four ears later, Judge Judy was appointed to be the supervising judge in Manhatten. Due to her reputation, she was featured on 60 Minutes , and then hired to do the Judge Judy television show premiering on September 16, 1996.
It is interresting to note that Judge Judy's Husband will soon be the judge on "The People's Court." http://www.judgejudy.com/ The next judge is Judge Mills Lane. Mills Lane was once a rifle instructor for the U.S. Marines, as well as a welterweight boxer. He even once was a boxing referee, maybe best known for disqualifying Mike Tyson in his fight against Evander Holyfield.

Judy Martz - Montana's Governor Speaks Out For GIS in State Government
August 21, 2004 View for printing It is rare that a state's chief executive addresses a technology conference; rarer still when it is a GIS conference. Governor Judy Martz was one of the keynote speaker's at ESRI's Senior Executive Seminar, a one-day event that preceded the company's 12000+ strong user conference in San Diego. By Joe Francica http://www.directionsmag.com/article ... icle_id=643 Governor Martz spoke extensively about how GIS technology "reduces the risk of decision-making." As a former chairperson of the Western States Governor's Association, she was forceful in stating that it is necessary to get legislators on board with how the technology can benefit the people they serve. She addressed many issues fundamental to Montana's wealth of natural resources but also spoke on how 9/11 changed many things, even in a state as remote as hers. "Immediately after 9/11, I established the Montana Homeland Security Taskforce. This task force quickly recognized that in order to plan for and react to threats both external and internal, we needed better geographic information," said the governor. She also mentioned how her state is involved in monitoring issues related to public health and the environment such as the West Nile virus. "The use of GIS in EPHT (Environmental Public Health Tracking) is critical and will facilitate information linking between environmental conditions and public health concerns," she noted. "Some examples of possible applications of this technology in Montana include tracking and monitoring livestock health, monitoring wildfire smoke conditions, and providing health notices to the general public when air quality degrades, and closely tracking outbreaks of West Nile virus so that public health officials can take steps to mitigate serious mosquito outbreaks.

TO JUDY'S HOBBY ROOM This is my little area of the house where I spend almost all my free time when I'm not cooking or on this computer! Come on in any time and see what I might be working on. You may find me in the kitchen where you'll find some of my favorite recipes. I love to cook and there will never be a recipe posted here that I have not tried myself. One of my favorite recipes is my homemade bread. This is a little heavier than some breads I've tried and I just love it. It is great to slice and use for sandwiches. You will also find pictures of my family and whatever may be going on with us at any given time. You've probably figured out by now that I'm a quilter and here you will find works in progress and too few completed projects. I have so many ideas and I jump from one project to another before finishing anything. One of my favorite projects is dyeing fabric. In the sewing room, you will find mostly links to quilt shopping online, my favorite national teachers' home pages, quilting friends' home pages and links to pages which are helpful for building your own web page. JUDY HOLLIDAY
Stage, Screen, And MusicJudy Could Do It All!
Judy Holliday was born Judith Tuvim in New York City on June 21, 1921. Her mother was a piano instructor who was attending a play when she went into labor. She made it just in time. Judy was to be her only child. By the time Judy was four years old, her mother had enrolled her in ballet school and this helped her to foster a life long interest in show business. Two years later her parents divorced. By the time she got to high school, Judy had begun to develop an interest in the theater. She excelled in several high school plays along with her studies and after graduation, got a job in the Orson Welles Mercury Theateras a switchboard operator. Slowly, Judy worked her way on the stage. From that point on Judy appeared on stages in Boston, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C. as well as New York City. In addition to the theaters, Judy toured the nightclub circuit as part of a group called "The Revuers" After being on the stage, Judy went to Hollywood and made her first foray into the film world. It was through the Revuers that Judy had her first shot at the silver screen in a film entitled, GREENWICH VILLAGE in 1944. Unfortunately, most of what they shot ended up on the cutting room floor. Disappointed, but not discouraged, Judy got two more roles in films that year, SOMETHING FOR THE BOYS and WINGED VICTORY. At least in the latter, Judy had a chance to have a few lines of dialogue. True, they were small, but it was a step up over GREENWICH VILLAGE.
