WESTERN AUSTRALIA
BRITISH COLONY OF WESTERN AUSTRALIA
Great Britain toke possession of what was to become Western Australia in 1791. No attempt to colonize or organize the territory was however made until 1825, when alarmed by French explorations in the region, the British established a first small settlement at Albany. The region was formally annexed in 1829 and in 1831, after having been ruled as a part of New South Wales for two years, Western Australia became a separate British colony. It was granted internal autonomy in 1890.

This listing of burials in a Colorado cemetery is a listing of only the burials where the headstone, or an associated marker, has an indication that the person belonged to one of the following organizations, or was a relative of the person who belonged to the organization. It is not meant to suggest that it is a complete listing of everyone buried in the cemetery, nor a listing of everyone from those organizations who is buried in the cemetery. For the most part the organizations began putting the identification on the tombstones in about 1880 and quit about 1935, though a few are occasionally seen with later death dates. This data was collected by Team One students from Princeton High School from the Jewish Cemetery on Old Ludlow, in Clifton, Ohio. Team One students are ninth graders in Accelerated World Civilizations. This unit of study included the history of the twentieth century and using practical statistics. Students worked in teams to segment the cemetery geometrically. Then they collected the data as best they could from the grave markers. Limitatations to this study include weathering of some of the older stones, and the instructors limited knowledge of the Hebrew Language. Permission was obtained from the Jewish Cemetery to work at this site, and this data has been sent to the Jewish Genealogical Society of Greater Cincinnati to assist them in their city-wide accumulation of this type of data. We believe this type of community service by students helps them further understand their place and the place of others in the history of Cincinnati and the world.

Vine Street Cemetery
Vine Street Cemetery established in 1859 is located in
Hazleton, Pennsylvania (Luzerne County). Some graves originally
located on Church Street were moved to the Vine Street site to
make room for City Hall. Originally 5 acres were donated by Ario Pardee.
It was later expanded to the present 12 acres. There are approximately
15.000 graves and 342 trees. The bodies of many veterans of the Civil
War, the Spanish American War, WWI, WWII and the Korean War are
buried here. Here too is a monument dedicated to 1st Lt. Fredrick
Lewis Drake (1895-1918) who died of wounds suffered in the Battle
of Brieulles Sar Bar France during WWI. Clarence Thomas Johnson a not too distant relative of mine died in the same war at Belleau Wood on 1 July 1918. Norman P. Michel was also killed in the same war and is buried at Vine St.

... W X Y Z Jeannie Shires has photographed some of the headstones/markers in Elmwood Cemetery. She has graciously given permission to post the photos online. Because the size of having so many photos on one page is out of the question, I have made a link to each photo. Click the name of the person to see the photo. In the case of two people sharing a stone, the link for each person will go to the same photo. If the name does not appear as a link , a photo is not available.
These photos are available to anyone who wishes to use them. I have a copy of the photos on a CD. I have resized the photos for better viewing on the web. Changing the size of the photo may cause some loss in detail. The image file can be taken to a photo shop and have a reasonably good paper picture printed if you do not have the necessary tools to do so yourself. The larger photo might be better for this purpose. I will forward a copy of any specific headstone to anyone who has a need for the larger photo.
Feel free to download any of these photos to your computer. Jeannie has given permission to copy, edit or distribute the photos...no restrictions.

Hahn Hutchcraft [ladybug@arends-sons.com] for finding and transcribing this document for the benefit and free use of all Ford County, Illinois researchers.
The names in the book were presented in "close-to" alphabetical order, meaning they were placed within the proper letter group. I've gone a step further and alphabetized the whole list. There are 3,653 burials listed here.
DRUMMER TWP CEMETERY AT GIBSON CITY, IL
When we stroll along the well-kept walks in the beautiful Drummer Twp Cemetery, we can think back into the past as we read the names on the markers and tombstones. The original cemetery for this community in the early days was on the northwest corner of the Andrew Jordan farm, section 24 in what is now Drummer Twp. Mr. Jordan is considered to be the earliest settler in the township, having settled on this farm in 185-. The original plat of the village of Gibson was laid out in the early part of 1871 by Mr. J.B. Lott, who purchased 240 acres on this site in 1869. In 1874 Mr. Lott deeded 10 acres of the highest ground to Drummer Twp for a burying ground and an association was formed to provide regulations for the cemetery. Three trustees, elected at the town meetings, have charge of the cemetery business affairs.
The original cemetery was plotted within a circular drive around the hill. Soldiers' Circle occupies the place of honor at the top of the hill. In the center of Soldier's Circle, Lott Post No. 70 G.A.R. placed a large cannon and a Parrott gun, with a number of shells which they obtained from the United States government Fortress Monroe, and a flag-pole beside the cannon. This was dedicated to the soldier dead at a ceremony on Memorial Day of 1898. The first burial in the cemetery was that of Mrs. Mary S. Bowker, wife of a pioneer farmer, who died Jan. 8, 1876. The second was that of G.W. Slack
