Shelfmarks: Dep. c. 831-53, d. 840, e. 393
Scope and Content
Papers of the Lewis family, 19th-20th cent., mainly letters to: Elizabeth, Lady Lewis (1844-1931), with a few to her husband Sir George Lewis, 1st Bart. (1833-1911); to one of their daughters, Katherine Elizabeth Lewis (d. 1961), with a few to their son Sir George Lewis, 2nd Bart. (1868-1927); and to their grand-daughter Elizabeth Lewis, later Wansbrough (d. 1995). Many of the letters are undated; some can be dated from the postmark on the envelope, but several letters were kept in the wrong envelopes; most of Paderewski's and Whistler's letters had become separated from their envelopes. Bequeathed by Elizabeth Wansbrough to Ampleforth Abbey; deposited by Ampleforth Abbey, 1996.

UNIVERSITY LIBRARIAN JOINS STUDY TOUR IN SINGAPORE According to Mrs. Yso, she was quite impressed with the very modern libraries that they visited, from the state-of-the-art computer and audio-visual equipment they use to the varied services and wide range of collection in various formats they offer to their clientele. But what impressed her more was the self-service borrowing and returning stations which do not only speed up circulation services but also reduce the need for circulation personnel. This is something that she hopes to see in the Silliman library in the future. Asked to evaluate her study tour in Singapore, Mrs. Yso replied that it was a very rewarding and fruitful experience. LIBRARY HOLDS ANNUAL RETREAT With the participation of the members of the University Library Committee (ULC), the Library personnel held their annual retreat on April 1, 2005 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the ground floor of the Main Library. Facilitated by Pastor Haniel Taganas, the participants were given the opportunity to know themselves better and discover how their colleagues see them in both their personal and professional relationships.
