Biographical History
Graham Wallas was born in Sunderland in 1858 and educated at Shrewsbury School and Corpus Christi College, Oxford, where he obtained a second class in Literae Humaniores in 1881. After leaving Oxford, he became a schoolmaster. In 1884 he obtained an appointment as a classics master at Highgate School, but left in 1890 after refusing to take communion as part of his duties. He found work as a university extension lecturer and continued lecturing on an occasional basis in both Britain and the USA even after his appointment to the London School of Economics. He became a lecturer at the LSE in 1895, and became the School's first Professor of Political Science in 1914. He retired from the LSE in 1923.
He married Ada Radford (also known as Audrey) in 1897. They had one daughter, May, born
Scope and Content
Papers created by or collected by Graham Wallas, including personal and professional correspondence, manuscripts of his lectures, articles and books, notes, engagement diaries and press cuttings. The main subjects covered include education (particularly school and university management, university extension and religious education), local government in London, national and international politics, public administration and social psychology. Also includes papers collected or created by Ada Wallas and May Wallas, notably Wallas' letters to both Ada and May, Ada's diaries, and correspondence and papers relating to posthumous publications of Wallas' works, edited by May Wallas. For the custodial history of the collection and related material in other Archives Division collections, please see the printed catalogue.

BIOGRAPHY / HISTORY CUSTODIAL HISTORY This fonds was created by the law firm of Hall, Gillespie. It was transferred to the Trent University Archives by Lois Davidson, legal consultant for the firm of McMichael, Davidson, who helped wind down, dispose of and terminate the law firm of Hall, Gillespie. SCOPE AND CONTENT This fonds consists of records from the law firm and practice of Hall, Gillespie, from its beginnings with Robert Dennistoun, to its termination with John Gillespie. This fonds consists of land search books, case files, estate records from probates of wills and succession of duty papers to surety bonds, and lists of assets and debts. It also consists of correspondence, the firm's written history, maps, deeds and associated papers, mortgages, debentures, bills of sale and other legal records. GOLETA CEMETERY INSCRIPTIONS
Walker Tompkins in his book "Goleta, the Goodland" reports that
the non-denominational Rafaela Cemetery Association was formed
in 1874 embracing almost 6 acres east of the La Goleta Rancho
and north of Hollister Avenue, serving the same area as the
Rafaela School District. In 1910 this was changed to the Goleta
Public Cemetery District, a County entity, embracing 12 acres
from Ellwood Cooper's ranch on the west to San Roque Creek on
the east.

Any additions and corrections to the book are noted in red Located on the northeast corner of Route #20 and Stoney Ridge Road, near the center of North Ridgeville, it is three miles from Elyria and 25 miles from Cleveland. The first burial was that of Martin Shellhaus, on Nov. 27, 1813. In 1826 Joel Terrell deeded l/2 acre of land to the township trustees for "the consideration of the Public benefit and the accomodation of the Inhabitants as a burying ground.
