Last updated: September 2, 2005. [View by date] To provide readers with the latest research and open access to Genetics ' papers, each week Genetics publishes manuscripts online, as soon as possible after they have been accepted for publication by a Genetics ' Associate Editor, but before each manuscript has been approved by the Editor-in-Chief, copy-edited and the final proofs reviewed by authors. These published-ahead-of-print manuscripts appear online as PDFs approximately eight to ten weeks before publication in the printed and online editions of Genetics Each manuscript published online ahead-of-print is citable, with the official publication date the date of the manuscript's first online posting. Genetics ' papers are assigned Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs), providing a persistent, permanent way to identify manuscripts published in the online environment. After a manuscript is first published online, it continues through the process of being prepared for print publication, including final copy-editing, typesetting, proofreading, and author review. In some cases, a paper accepted and published-ahead-of-print may be pulled for the purposes of revision before it is eventually published in print. Companion papers slated for our print and online editions may or may not be published simultaneously as publish-ahead-of-print papers. In support of open access, the publish ahead of print version of a paper will appear soon after acceptance and will be freely accessible to all readers.

Showing the Middle Finger to Jacques Chirac and the EU There are a host of reasons why the French voters (and Dutch voters by extension) rejected the European Union's proposed constitution in the May referendum. I've talked to quite a few people who tend to reduce these reasons to the social welfare and anti-corporate campgaigns conducted by the leftist groups and downplay the significant role of the right. The right wing nationalist organiztions were also highly active and their campaign was very influential in the NO result. So one could aruge that once again the left and the right have come together to fight liberal market policies. I don't mean to sound like a liberal at all, cause had I been in France or Netherlands, I would have probably voted against the constitution for the same reasons that the leftist groups rejected it. But looking from outside and not being particularly knowledgeable on the issue, that's I have observed. Here is K's observation who followed the referendum from Germany: a
There are many reasons why people voted against the constitution: the arguments of
the nationalists should be quite clear. The leftists (and myself too) are against it because it causes a bigger level of militarization in the eu (higher funds for arms...), greater exploitation of the third world and the environment and a point that was quite important for the french referendum: the lack of social standards within the constitution.

Gordon Secures $500,000 For North Tennessee Boulevard Project
March 14, 2005, MURFREESBORO - U.S. Rep. Bart Gordon has secured $500,000 in a federal transportation bill that will be used to make road improvements to North Tennessee Boulevard, part of an overall plan to spruce up entrances to Middle Tennessee State University. "Our community is home to one of the biggest and best universities in the state," said Gordon, an MTSU alumnus and dean of the state's congressional delegation. "Improving that entrance to the university is not only a logical thing to do aesthetically, but it also will improve the safety of students who drive, walk or ride bicycles along that route." Gordon noted that he has been working with U.S. Sen. Lamar Alexander to get federal funding for the project. "Sen. Alexander understands the need for this project and has been a great champion for the university in the Senate," Gordon explained. Plans to improve the road include widening the route and installing pedestrian friendly landscaping along it, as well. The new landscaping will include tree-lined medians, sidewalk buffers, park benches, bicycle trails and enhanced lighting.

All Summer Long
by Judith Arnold, Muriel Jensen, and Bobby Hutchinson; contemporary category (2001)
Harlequin Superromance, $4.99, ISBN 0-373-71000-3 Harlequin Superromance's 1000th book! Yay! I'm so excited. That's why this book has been languishing in the TBR pile since August 2001 and only now am I reviewing it, almost a year later. To commemorate the hagdom of this line, Harlequin ties Judith Arnold, Muriel Jensen, and Bobby Hutchinson to the spoke wheel and whips them into writing this anthology. Judith Arnold, whose novella Daddy's Girl gets my vote as the most decent of the three, presents the "Single Daddy" story. Hero Kevin Medina mows lawns for a living, but he gets to live in this amazing mansion. (Can I make some jokes about the lawn boy and the wealthy but lonely housewife here? No?) He obviously makes money, but he can't hire a full-time nanny for is one-year old Alex. Like all stories of this type, the grandparents of Alex - the Dead Wife's parents, that is - want Alex, but Kevin is so torn. What to do? Oh, how about hiring a nanny, for one? But that's just me. Social service woman Natalie Baines shows up, gets won over by Kevin's clumsy but earnest attempts to take care of Alex, and not only does she approve of Kevin taking care of Alex, she even marries the father.

Candlelighting Times
ARCHIVES Affirming their love on location Dan Rosenstein and Alex Lawson held their wedding in Maui.
PHOTOS / JOHN HENRY PHOTOGRAPHY Native Clevelanders share details of their recent destination weddings
BY: JUNE SCHARF When weddings are set in exotic, tropical locations, the occasions have "vacation" written all over them for those who attend. But therein lies the rub - how many people are willing to leap off the continent to attend someone's nuptials? Turns out, plenty.
Known as "destination weddings," these far-flung fêtes are growing in popularity. Even NBC's Today Show featured a top-notch destination wedding for a lucky couple last year on their popular segment "Today Throws a Wedding." While these events demand time, travel and expense, the payoff for the bridal couple and guests typically comes in the form of a beautiful location with time to relax and indulge in a warm climate and new sights. Below, three couples share details of their recent destination weddings. It wasn't until the day after the wedding that Dan Rosenstein's parents, Lilia and Nick Rosenstein of Pepper Pike, were convinced that his wedding on Maui was a sensational idea. And they are still raving about it now, six months afterward.
