Quotes of the Day for 28 November 2003 - Peace
There are actual wars going on, and I'm sure I would think it was war if I had the nerve to go to a shopping mall today. (Note for our foreign readers, today is the single busiest shopping day of the year in the US.) But the Van Horn household and the community I live in are at peace, for which I am very thankful. Never, for the sake of peace and quiet, deny your own experience or convictions.
Dag Hammarskjold If we have not peace within ourselves, it is in vain to seek it from outward sources.
François, Duc de La Rochefoucauld We can gain no lasting peace if we approach it with suspicion and mistrust or with fear. We can gain it only if we proceed with the understanding, the confidence, and the courage which flow from conviction.
Franklin Delano Roosevelt If there is to be any peace it will come through being, not having.
Henry Miller He is happiest, be he king or peasant, who finds peace in his home.
Johann Wolfgang von Goethe We look forward to the time when the power to love will replace the love of power. Then will our world know the blessings of peace.
