"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" Posted: Monday April 25th, 2005 1:42AM Author: Paul Fischer Location: New York, NY
Freeman, a classically trained theatre actor, recalls that while his parents were consistently artistic, they were not the sole influence behind his decision to become an actor. "I think I was influenced by the fact there was the environment at home that, we're creating things and expressing yourself artistically wasn't to be frowned upon, so in that, I was always aware that it was OK to write or read," Freeman explains. "You didn't have to pretend to be stupid or pretend that you weren't interested in things that you were interested in, so there was always the environment where it was open for that to happen. I guess probably seeing films at a very early age, because we all watched tele, was a strong influence."
Freeman recalls being something of a show off at school, and I think I was probably seen to be quite funny at school. People would say, 'you should have your own show'. But probably every actor in the world was probably in that position, in that they were probably one of the biggest show-offs at school in a way. I think a lot of actors require a mixture of the two, very shy and a show off and I think people find it hard to believe, how can he be shy, but it's not that simple."

Sioux Falls, South Dakota 57117-5045 SUBJECT: NOTICE OF VIOLATION (NRC INVESTIGATION REPORT 4-2001-053) Dear Mr. Slunecka: This refers to NRC investigation 4-2001-053 conducted by the NRC's Office of Investigations (OI) and completed on April 29, 2002. The purpose of the investigation was to determine whether there was a deliberate violation of NRC requirements associated with a contamination event which occurred on October 4, 2001, at Freeman Community Hospital in Freeman, South Dakota. On June 6, 2002, my staff informed you that the NRC had identified an apparent, deliberate violation of requirements associated with this incident, and that the NRC was considering escalated enforcement action in accordance with its enforcement policy. The apparent violation involved the use of radioactive material in the Freeman Community Hospital kitchen, an area where food was prepared and stored. On July 12, 2002, a closed, predecisional enforcement conference was conducted with Avera McKennan Hospital personnel at the hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Avera McKennan Hospital acknowledged the violation, but denied that its nuclear medicine technologist committed a deliberate violation of NRC requirements. You stated at the conference that the technologist was under pressure from Freeman Community Hospital personnel and was attempting to serve the needs of a patient. You stated that the technologist made an error in judgment in using the hospital kitchen to heat a vial of technetium-99m when the hot plate in the Avera McKennan Hospital mobile lab would not work. You also characterized this incident as a system failure in that the wrong radiopharmaceuticals were loaded onto the vehicle that day, and the equipment in the vehicle was not working.

The purpose of the inspection was to determine whether "Tracerflo" devices remaining at the Lee's Summit facility following termination of NRC License No. 24-06015-02 were contaminated with licensable radioactive material. The inspection also included a review of the actions taken to terminate the license. The subject inspection report was sent to Lucent Technologies, Inc. by letter dated July 30, 1996. In accordance with the Enforcement Policy, a base civil penalty in the amount of $2500 is considered for a Severity Level III problem. Morgan Freeman
Patrick Stoner: I heard that you don't like to see yourself on screen. How far does that go? You don't see dailies? You don't see the final cut? What? Morgan Freeman: If I didn't go to see the final cut, the director would say, "What's the matter, you're not proud of what we did?" So, I HAVE to see the final cut, but I don't like to, and no I won't go to the dailies or watch the videotapes. I don't want to see myself. Stoner: Why is that? Freeman: Well, you have to understand how I go about acting and exactly what acting is. If you're playing somebody who is not you, then you can imagine that you are that person. You can feel like he feels, move like he moves, look like he looks in your own mind. Stoner: Be in the moment ... Freeman: Be in the moment, right. But, if you catch even a glimpse of yourself doing the role, then all you see is YOU not him and then you're just yourself. So, I avoid seeing myself while I'm working on role so I won't see "me." Stoner: It seems like you are reducing what you do in your roles to the minimum.

Player 4 Stage 4: But is it Arts?
When I played Monopoly as a kid, all I was worried about is not landing on my buddy's hotel on Boardwalk and having to pay the jerk his 1000 bucks. For a young Trip Hawkins, games are an education.
Obsessed with board games, the interaction of people in competition is a compelling one for Trip. Predictions, for better or worse, are a recurring theme in Hawkins' life, and he starts off with two direct hits. At college in the early 70's, he creates a computer game to simulate the 1974 Super Bowl, with the program predicting a Miami win of 23-6. By the time the game was played out in Houston, the end result had Miami winning 24-7. In 1975, using information such as Intel's invention of the first microprocessor, and the action forming around Dick Heiser's The Computer Store, founded that year as the first computer retail store in the US, Hawkings creates another computer model. It informs him that he could feasibly start a company making home computer games by 1982. Hawkins becomes Apple Employee #68 in 1978, after seeing the debut of the Apple II at the first West Coast Computer Faire. He is manager of market planning, and his job is to convince the business community of the virtues of the Apple II as a business tool. When he sees demonstrations of new spreadsheet program VisiCalc designed by Dan Bricklin and Bob Frankston for Personal Software, he knows he is seeing the future of business software. Apple brass are not so enthusiastic, however, and president
