Elijah Smith and Kate Haney (dau of James and Josephine Lyons Haney) were married 24 Nov 1881 by the Rev. Samuel Hymer at the home of the bride's parents. Sean Furniss Query Surnames: Geers, Reid (Reed) Date: 16 Dec 1996 Query: My great-great-grandfather Jesse James GEERS owned property and lived in Miami County and most probably Wade Township from 1880 or so until right after the turn of the century, sometime after 1901. His daughter Orpha Cecilia GEERS was married to John Edward REED at Hillsdale on 11 Feb 1892 at the Baptist Church by an Elder Jacob BROWN. Orpha died of pneumonia on 21 Apr 1901, believe she is buried in the Wellsville Cemetary. I also don't find any association to John BROWN in his genealogical record. Does anyone know of Jacob BROWN? I have noticed that the name of John W. Reid is spelled as REED and REID in the accounts of the battle of Osawatomie. Does anyone know which is the correct spelling of the surname REID or where I might look for the genealogy of his family? I would like to contact anyone who might have any information about any of these folks as I know little about them from here on back in the family history.
