Rev. RYAN, Thomas SJ Death of Father T.F. Ryan, S.J.
R.I.P.
Father Thomas Ryan, SJ of Wah Yan College, Hong Kong, died at Canossa Hospital on 4 February 1971, aged 81.
He was born in Cork, Ireland, on 30 December 1889. On the completion of his secondary education, he joined the Jesuits and was ordained priest in 1922, after the usual Jesuit course of studies.
SOCIAL WORK IN IRELAND
After his ordination he became editor, first of the Madonna, and later of the Irish messenger of the Sacred Heart. With his editorial work he combined a vigorous social apostolate and soon became the refuge of all Dublin parents whose children were getting into trouble. He was always businesslike and never soft, yet he won the confidence of the young delinquents as well as that of the children's court: before he left Ireland in 1933, he visited every prison in Ireland to say goodbye to old friends who had graduated into adult delinquents without losing their trust in Father Ryan. The army of slum-dwellers who came to see him when he was leaving for Hong Kong has entered into the folk memory of Dublin.
SOCIAL WORK IN HONG KONG
When Canton fell to the Japanese in 1938 and refugees began to pour into Hong Kong, the task of providing for the refugees who poured into Hong Kong fell largely upon a committee of which Bishop Hall and Father Ryan were the leading spirits, and the executive work, providing food and shelter, fell chiefly to Father Ryan.

Page 1 of 543 Father Ryan's Poems By Abram J. Ryan, (Father Ryan) Introduction: In preparing this electronic text of Father Ryan's poems,
I was struck by the biased nature of the memoir included.
While I will not gainsay anyone's right to their beliefs,
I believe it is clearly evident from the poems themselves
that Father Ryan believed strongly in the Southern Cause,
and I do not believe his reaction was entirely emotional,
as seems to be implied. The Memoir also makes mention of
Father Ryan's poem "Reunited", as evidence of his support
for the reunification of the States. To be fair to Ryan,
I would note that such stanzas as "The Northern heart and the Southern heart First Page Next Page Last Page Read ... Titles Menu

Mass Celebrated by Archbishop Denis Hart
on Saturday, 13th December, 2003, at 6.00pm Introduction Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Today on the Third Sunday of Advent we realise that Christ is near to our lives and your priest is present among you to lead you in holiness and worship, to teach you the faith of Jesus Christ and to gather you as brothers and sisters in the Lord. As we look with eagerness to the coming feast of Christmas, we pray for Father Ryan that the Spirit of the Lord may be upon him, that you and he may form a holy people guided by the light of the Holy Spirit, that together you may work to receive the life which comes from Christ.
May this journey of faith in Advent always lead you to know hope, which the Lord alone can show us. Homily Dear Brothers and Sisters, This parish of Saint Gerard has a rich tradition of faithfulness to the celebration of the Eucharist and to Eucharistic Adoration, to the faith which comes from the Apostles, lived and nourished by authentic Catholic teaching, by use of the Sacrament of Reconciliation and the other Sacraments, by seeing the saints of God as our brothers and sisters led by Mary, our Mother, whose Rosary we cherish. Together with Pope John Paul and his Archbishop, Father Ryan will strive to serve you faithfully and generously. I urge you to welcome him and to remember of course the larger areas of responsibilities which he now has.

Overall Rating: Abstract: This small site provides a brief discussion of most of the better known aspects of the events leading up to the trials. The site begins by taking the reader through the story of the controversy over Samuel Parris and ends with a list of eighteen people who were hanged. All in all, the site gets its facts correct, although one notices the repetition of some falsehoodscalling Sarah Osburn "elderly", for example. The site also contains a pair of oft-used, ominous paintings depicting a hanging and courtroom examination. This site aims to educate on a middle school level, and it succeeds. Parish priest turns into a Mr Softee for silver celebration
LICKED: Father James Ryan with pupils from Our Lady and St Paul’s, enjoying their free ice creams. YOUNGSTERS at Our Lady and St Paul’s had it licked when their teachers threw a party for Father James Ryan to celebrate his silver anniversary in the parish. After celebrating a special Mass, Father Ryan, who is also chairman of governors, was presented with gifts from staff and children at the Sutherland Road school. And to say a big thank you Father Ryan, who hails from Ireland, turned a Mr Softee into a Mr Money Bags when he treated all the 270 pupils to an ice cream. Unknown to the school, Father Ryan had arranged for Heywood firm Granelli’s to turn up laden with the finest ice creams and lollies for the thirsty pupils. “I thought it would be a nice surprise for the pupils and they certainly enjoyed the treat, clearing the van out,” he said. Peter McCaber, who has run Heywood’s famous Granelli’s for the past 37 years, said that although he took the delivery in his stride, he was still glad he had wife, Pauline, to help.

Fr. James William Ryan August 31, 1937
January 16, 2003
Father James William Ryan was born August 31, 1937, at Rochester, Minnesota. He was the son of Eugene and Rose (Remrick) Ryan. Father Ryan was raised in Minnesota where he attended the Immaculate Heart of Mary Seminary in Winona from 1960-63. He then attended Immaculate Conception Seminary in Conception, Missouri, from 1963-65. He entered Pontifical College Josephinum in Worthington, Ohio, to study for the priesthood. The Most Reverend Loras J. Watters ordained him a priest for the Diocese of Bismarck, on March 21, 1970, at the Church of St. Francis in Rochester, Minnesota. Father Ryan’s first assignment in the Diocese of Bismarck was as assistant pastor at the Church of St. Mary, New England, from 1970-71. He then became assistant pastor at the Church of St. Mary, Bismarck, for two months. In April 1971, he was appointed administrator of the Church of the Holy Cross, Douglas, and its mission, the Church of St. Charles, Ryder, where he served for three months. Father Ryan was appointed assistant pastor at the Church of St. Leo, Minot, from July 1971 to 1973.

October 6, 2004 WELCOMING THE REVEREND JOHN J. RYAN
Mr. MICA. Mr. Speaker, this morning, it is my distinct pleasure and really and truly an honor to welcome father John J. Ryan to the United States House of Representatives.
Father Ryan is the pastor of St. Brendan Roman Catholic Church in Ormond Beach, Florida, which is part of my district. He is a member of the presbyterate of the Diocese of Orlando and has served as a priest for 30 years.
Originally from New Jersey, Father Ryan has spent the majority of his priesthood ministering in the Orlando diocese.
Father Ryan has been a forerunner in the civic and ecumenical communities. In 2001, he gathered over 2,000 people of various faiths to mark the first anniversary of September 11.
In this service, he assembled Protestant, Jewish, Muslim, Catholic, and Orthodox religious leaders at his parish as well as representatives of every part of the civic community, from mayors, police chiefs, fire chiefs and every branch of the military service.
Father Ryan is no stranger to bringing together people of every race and every religion to share their common bond as members of the human society. He embodies the perfect blend of civic pride and religious faith.

The Bizarre Case of Rev. Ryan St. Anne Scott
By Matt C. Abbott
MichNews.com
Aug 19, 2004 During his tenure in the Diocese of La Crosse, Wis., then-Bishop Raymond Burke - currently the noted Archbishop of St. Louis - had a particularly interesting cross to bear, one might say. That cross was one Ryan Patrick Scott. Father Ryan Patrick Scott, that is. Or, as he is currently known, Father Ryan St. Anne, O.S.B. You see, Scott is an independent Catholic priest. In Church-speak, he is schismatic, that is, not in communion with Rome . And whether he is/was validly ordained is, well.debatable.
