HEMINGWAY'S PARIS:
WRITERS and BOOKS:
Fyodor Dostoyevsky (1821-1881)
Russian writer, a socialist as a young man, but later, after an imprisonment, converted to the Russian Orthodox Church. Known for his extraordinary powers of characterization, as expressed in novels like Crime and Punishment The Idiot (1868), and The Brothers Karamazov (1880). Often likened to Dickens because of their common interests in children, crime, and suffering in large nineteenth-century cities. Back to On-line Seminar

“IF GOD DOES NOT EXIST, THEN EVERYTHING IS PERMITTED.”
OK... no matter how much the above statement sounds like him,
and no matter how many times it has been attributed to him,
it is beginning to look like it wasn't Dostoevsky who wrote this.

"Welcome to the Dostoevsky Research Station , one man's humble part-time attempt to create THE definitive reference site for the study of Fyodor Mikhailovich Dostoevsky (1821-1881) and his considerable body of work. You may well be thinking, "not another Dostoevsky site!", which is fair enough considering that there are 30+ sites out there already dedicated exclusively to the famous Russian writer (we have links to them all, incidentally). But we're not just another fan site. Online since January 1996 albeit on various webservers and under various monikers , we are not only the fattest with 200 relevant links to other useful spots on the web, we were also the very first.
