Subject: Letter:_why_the_little_fish_with_legs What most people dont realize is, that Darwin repented on his knees, about everything he taught regarding evolution and humbly received Christ as his personal savior. He lived in misery for 20 years before repenting of everything he taught. You will notice that THIS is not taught in the universities. Sad, that so many people are still deceived by the doctrine he taught. Jane Meehan

Date: January 28, 2002 1:25 PM Firstly, let us suppose this tale to be true. It is most assuredly a lie; however, for the sake of discussion, let us assume, for a moment, that Darwin did suffer a death-bed conversion and "humbly received Christ as his personal savior," as has been the popular parlance during the latter half of the twentieth century to describe a Christian Conversion.

Bernard Darwin had a conventional up-bringing of the sons of successful men, being educated at Eton college and Cambridge University, where he gained his golf blue 1895-97, being Captain in his last year. After Cambridge he was a court lawyer in London for a few years. He was not happy in his work and soon began to write about his first love, the game of golf.

Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell ThemIntelligent Design round 3
Francis Beckwith , Associate Professor of Church-State Studies at Baylor University, owner of a ".com" homepage (!), and a frequent poster boy for the Discovery [sic] Institute, is the "new face" of the Intelligent Design scam run by the Institute. Quite presentable, he almost sounds reasonable, though he turns out to be as big a liar as "John West, PhD" , albiet a bit more subtle. (West's PhD, by the way, is in poli sci, from the Straussian Claremont Graduate School!) Professor Beckwith writes to a Texas newspaper as follows: "In his letter to the editor Thursday, Oak H. DeBerg made the completely audacious claim that those who testified at the July 9 State Board of Education hearings on behalf of textbook accuracy in the biological sciences were pushing 'a conservative religious view . . . at the expense of good science.' "Because I am one of those who testified, I can assure you that DeBerg is making this up out of whole cloth. "In my testimony I offered the uncontroversial suggestion that textbooks that address the topic of evolution offer to their readers, the state's students, accurate portrayals of current scientific data as well as thoughtful questions that have been raised against the Darwinian paradigm by credentialed scholars whose works have been published by university press monographs and in peer-reviewed periodicals.

Biography of Francis Galton
The publication in 1859 of the Origin of Species by Charles Darwin made a marked epoch in my own mental development, as it did in that of human thought generally. Its effect was to demolish a multitude of dogmatic barriers by a single stroke, and to arouse a spirit of rebellion against all ancient authorities whose positive and unauthenticated statements were contradicted by modern science. I doubt, however, whether any instance has occurred in which the perversity of the educated classes in misunderstanding what they attempted to discuss was more painfully conspicuous. Electronic scholarly publishing Electronic scholarly publishing is an online publishing project making available "scientific and other scholarly materials" via its Web site, with a specific emphasis on the history of science, genetics and computational biology. A range of materials are available via this site, including digitised books and journal articles. Most texts are in Adobe PDF format and require the Adobe Acrobat Reader in order to view them, although some texts are available in HTML format. As well as general articles on genetics and the history of genome research, there is a substantial selection of primary works, including texts by Aristotle, Galen, Francis Bacon, Malthus and Darwin. A timeline is also available which outlines the major developments in genetics and places them in the context of general historical events.
