En 1871 il publie la France envahie et Paris assiégé ; en 1875- 1876, l'Histoire de la Révolution de 1870-1871. En il devint administrateur du Théâtre-Français et le resta jusqu'à sa mort. Il inaugura en la série hebdomadaire de La Vie à Paris. Clary Charles-Napoléon, comte Neveu des reines d'Espagne et de Suède, filles de Clary négociant marseillais. En 1848, lieutenant-colonel de la première Légion de la Garde de Paris. Blessé en Juin. — Sénateur en 1852.

It was from the splendor of his empire that civilization was rekindled in France, then in Europe generally. See S.P.
