The Class of 1931 held its 67th mini-reunion on Friday, May 22, with a social hour and luncheon in the Sharpe Refectory. Thanks to Eleanor McAndrews Retallick for making arrangements for the luncheon and sending out the notices. We had a short meeting after the luncheon and reaffirmed the resolution to appoint a nominating committee to present a slate of officers for the next three years. On Monday the class was represented by Howard Angell and Bernie Buonanno for the walk down the hill for the Commencement procession. At noon we had a table of seven at the brunch sponsored by the Alumni Association. Attending the reunion were Howard Angell, Josephine and Bernie Buonanno, Freeda and J oseph Galkin , Doris and Ben Greenfield , Dorothy and Bill Hindley , Warren and Marion Boettiger Leonard , and Eleanor Retallick and her guest, George Williams. - Bill Hindley

The wide-open space and the challenge to tame a wild country drew the first settlers to Midland. These people believed in themselves and in the land. They had dreams for making a better life and they worked hard to see those dreams grow into reality.
That pioneer spirit never died. It exists today in Midlanders who want to better their community and to help others. The United Way of Midland has established a Leadership Giving Program for those whose generosity reflects extraordinary concern about the community and the needs of Midlanders.
In 1990, under the leadership of Charles Spence, Editor of the Midland Reporter Telegram, the Midland Investor Society began with an exciting 160 Charter Members. Many of those Charter Members continue to invest in our community through the United Way.
In 1997, under the leadership of Campaign Chairman Tony Best, this leadership giving program was expanded to include individuals giving 1.5% of their annual income or $1000 or more. Membership grew to exceed 500 members and is continuing to grow today.
