Babylonian Legend of Ishtar
The heading of "The House of Arabu" consists of seven lines from this ancient text, also known as "Descent of Ishtar to the Nether World." The quotation seems to be from Morals in Ancient Babylon , by Joseph McCabe (Little Blue Book #1076), slightly modified (in the quotation, a second clause in each of the first two lines has been dropped; the first part of these lines, and the rest of the quotation, is identical to the McCabe text). "Of Revenge."
One Who Walked Alone , p. 204: [REH makes the suggestion that Shakespeare's plays might have been written by Bacon (an idea first put forth in the mid-19th century; see "Shakespeare")] "'Can't you just see those old Elizabethans sitting around talking, trying to decide whether revenge should be done by the next of kin or by the State?

An Inventory of the Anna Wharton Morris Papers, 1729-1957
(68 boxes; 35 linear ft.) RG 5/106 Friends Historical Library of Swarthmore College. Swarthmore, Pennsylvania 19081-1399 U.S.A. Table of contents Abstract Background note: BIOGRAPHICAL Anna Wharton was born in Philadelphia on July 15, 1868. Her father, Joseph Wharton (1826-1909), was a wealthy industrialist. He married Anna Corbit Lovering (1830-1914) in 1854 at the Cherry Street Meeting House in Philadelphia. Two children preceeded Anna: Joanna (1858-1938), who married Joshua Bertram Lippincott in 1885, and Mary Lovering (1862-1923), who never married. The Whartons moved to Ontalauna near Old York Road, Philadelphia, in 1881. Their summer residence, Marbella, was at Conanicut, west of Newport, Rhode Island. Anna was educated at Mrs. Head's School in Germantown and took private lessons in French and music. In June of 1896, Anna Wharton married Harrison Smith Morris, son of George Washington Morris and his wife, Catharine (Harris) Morris. Even though Morris was not a Friend, Green Street Monthly Meeting gave permission for the marriage to proceed under the care of the Meeting. The service took place at her father's house in the Quaker manner with over 140 witnesses. Anna Wharton Morris remained a member of Green Street Monthly Meeting and was active in the Society of Friends throughout her life.

Tell Me More About Family Crests
Family Crests and Coats of Arms: the Heraldic Artist
We have researched the Bok family crest in the most recognized sources of coats of arms. Before an artist or craftsman can render a Coat of Arms, it must exist. In other words the arms must have been designed and recorded by the heralds from time immemorial.
