Samuel Adams Samuel Adams was born in Boston on Sept. 17th, 1722, and died on Oct. 2nd, 1803. He was a major leader in the American Revolution. The son of a wealthy brewer, he inherited one-third of the family property but lost most of it through poor management. After attending Harvard, he became active in colonial politics and enjoyed a popular following through his activities in the Boston political clubs, such as the Caucus Club, which was influential in nominating candidates for local office. Adams was an effective spokesman for the popular party opposed to the entrenched circle around the royal governor. Adams organized the protest against the Stamp Act (1765) and was a founder of the Sons of Liberty . Undoubtedly the most influential member of the lower house of the Massachusetts legislature (1765-74), he drafted most of the major protest documents, including the Circular Letter (1768) against the Townshend Acts . He also wrote frequently for the press in defense of colonial rights. Adams formed close ties with John Hancock , whose connections with the Boston merchants made him useful in the revolutionary cause. After 1770 he was the focal point in the creation of intercolonial committees of correspondence to sustain the spirit of resistance. He was a principal organizer of the

Samuel Adams
Samuel Adams was born in Boston, Massachusetts on September 27, 1722. He was a leader of the fight against British colonial rule, and a signer of the Declaration of Independence. Adams was a cousin of John Adams who became President of the United States. Samuel Adams graduated from Harvard College with a Master of Arts degree in 1743. After college he entered private business, and throughout this period was an outspoken participant in Boston town meetings. When his business failed in 1764 Adams entered politics full-time, and was elected to the Massachusetts legislature. He lead the effort to establish a committee of correspondence that published a Declaration of Colonial Rights that Adams had written. He was a vocal opponent of several laws passed by the British Parliament to raise revenue in the American Colonies, including the Tea Act which gave a British trading company a monopoly on the import of tea into the colonies. This opposition reached its peak on December 16, 1773 when a group of Bostonians dumped a British cargo of tea into Boston Harbor. This act of resistance is referred to as the Boston Tea Party.

Samuel Adams By Alyanna Japanese Translation Samuel Adams life was very exciting because of the many things he did. Samuel Adams was born on September 9, 1722. Samuel Adams was born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts. Adams' father was deeply involved in politics and his mother was a deeply religious woman. Adams entered college in the late 1730s and graduated in 1743. Adams was considered a leader because he influenced a lot of people to fight against the British. Samuel Adams helped to defeat the Townshed Act, organized the Boston Tea Party and supported the Continental Congress. Though he was not that successful in business, he stood up for not being taxed without representation. Adams also organized the Sons of Liberty. The Sons of Liberty were a secret organization against the British Colonial Rule. Also the Sons of Liberty organized The Boston Tea Party. In the Boston Tea Party they dressed up as Mohawk Indians, and dumped 17,000,000 pounds of tea into the ocean for a protest against the British. They did this because England raised taxes very high on tea. After the Boston Tea Party Adams fought in the war against Great Britain. After the war Adams signed the Declaration of Independence and was Governor of Massachusetts for 4 years. Samuel Adams shaped America by giving Americans the push they needed to fight against the British, so they would not take over America's land, money, and freedom. Modern day Americans enjoy the benefit of what Samuel Adams did. October 2, 1803 Adams died.

Quotes of the Day for 27 September 2004 - Samuel Adams
The colonial firebrand and sometime brewer Samuel Adams was born at Boston, Massachusetts on this day in 1722. One of the most outspoken of America's founding fathers, he was the organizer of the Boston Tea Party and a constant scourge to colonial government. Quotes from his speeches and pamphlets still ring true. Driven from every other corner of the earth, freedom of thought and the right of private judgment in matters of conscience direct their course to this happy country as their last resort. Our contest is not only whether we ourselves shall be free, but whether there shall be left to mankind an asylum on earth for civil and religious liberty. The country shall be independent, and we will be satisfied with nothing short of it. It does not require a majority to prevail, but rather an irate, tireless minority keen to set brush fires in people's minds. Man's rights are evident branches of, rather than deductions from, the duty of self-preservation, commonly called the first law of nature. Among the natural rights of the colonists are these: First a right to life, secondly to liberty, thirdly to property; together with the right to defend them in the best manner they can.
