    Research Highlights
The Influenza Sequence Database is a curated database of nucleotide and amino acid sequences. It is intended to provide the research community with easy sequence deposit and retrieval capabilities, together with tools tailored, in particular, to the analysis of hemagglutinin and neuraminidase sequences.
    Notable News and Announcements
    • Four of the ten most cited LANL publications between 1995-1999 , including the most cited article, were contributed by T-10.
    • George Bell, former group leader of T-10 and director of T Division, died May 28, 2000. Bell, a Laboratory Senior Fellow, came to Los Alamos in 1951, joining T Division's effort to design and develop the world's first thermonuclear weapons. Bell later co-founded T-10 and was at the forefront of the human genome project. He is also remembered as a world-class mountaineer.

    Description
Seminars in Cancer Biology is a review journal dedicated to keeping scientists informed of developments in the field of molecular oncology on a topic by topic basis. Each issue is thematic in approach, devoted to an important topic of interest to cancer biologists, from the underlying genetic and molecular causes of cellular transformation and cancer to the molecular basis of potential therapies. Every issue is edited by a guest editor, an internationally acknowledged expert in the field, and contains six to eight authoritative invited reviews on different aspects of the subject area. The aim of each issue is to provide a coordinated, readable, and lively review of a selected area, published rapidly to ensure currency.
Topics covered in earlier issues include:
    ISSN: 1044-579X

I should be able to mail you all the password during the week and you should be prepared for the protected area to become active not too long afterwards, certainly before Monday 3rd May 2004. Also, I am in the middle of making up certificates of participation. This should not take too long and I should be able to email them to those people who want them in the near future Daniel.

Warren (Unilever) Biology is ‘living soft matter’ – biological surfactants (lipids) make up the membranes, while proteins and DNA are biological polymers. Brownian motion has a dominant role – diffusion on structures with reduced spatial dimensionality (2-dimensional on membranes and 1-dimensional on various filamentous structures such a microtubules) play a crucial role in transport and other processes, while diffusion in a very-high-dimensional free-energy landscape underlies protein folding. The new insights into soft matter gained by physicists over the last few decades can therefore be expected to have significant impact on the understanding of biological systems, from single biomolecules through to cells and (perhaps) beyond. In particular, the increasing attention paid by soft condensed matter physicists to
