Creation Science (in North America, this is mainly a Christian belief ).
The consensus of scientists (includes the theory of evolution
Theistic beliefs about origins: a blending of scientific and religious beliefs (includes theistic evolution).
Overview:
The media delight in talking about the warfare between evolution, creation science, and the new kid on the bloc: intelligent design. However, there are not just three conflicting belief systems concerning the origin of plants, animals, humans, the rest of the world and the rest of the universe. There are literally hundreds of theories which can be grouped into three categories: Many diverse, conflicting religious views: According David Barrett et al, editors of the " World Christian Encyclopedia " there are 19 major world religions which are subdivided into a total of 270 large religious groups, and many thousands of smaller ones. Among these various faith groups, we estimate that there are hundreds of significantly different creation stories to draw from. Included among these hundreds of belief systems is a group of beliefs which is particularly popular in North America: Creation science: This consists of about a dozen different, conflicting, belief systems, based on different interpretations of the

The debate about Creationism vs. Evolution rages in the American popular culture. This page hopes to add some light to the debate.
The tension between how people interpret the Bible and what people believe that they have learned through science has been with us for a long time. The fact is, science and the Bible are both needed to find the truth. In the Beginning
Genesis chapter 1 verses 1 & 2 are a partial summary of the creation story. The partial summary gives the reader certain details from a different point of view that will be missing from another version of the story. This is an example of a particular style of story telling sometimes called "oriental" story telling.
After a summary has been given, the story begins again with a more specific retelling in verse 3 with the words, "And God said, "Let there be light," and there was light."
Scientists now believe that the universe began with a "Big Bang." The "big bang" is here in verse three. God released the power of His Word into one point and from there the universe exploded outward.

Introduction
This is a guide to recent research on the evolution of cooperation. This is the second such document. The first was compiled by Robert Axelrod and Douglas Dion in 1988. Entries in this bibliography cover the period 1988 to early 1994. For a review of work prior to 1988 see the Axelrod and Dion entry in this bibliography. This guide includes work that makes use of Robert Axelrod's The Evolution of Cooperation (NY: Basic Books, 1984) or earlier work included in that book, such as the biological article by Robert Axelrod and William Hamilton of the same title in Science, vol. 211 (1981): 1390-96. While most of the items included in this bibliography explicitly cite this work, other research which draws heavily on the ideas and themes of Axelrod's approach is also cited here. This bibliography generally excludes work that makes only passing or minor reference to Axelrod. We apologize to authors whose contributions we may have overlooked.

131. Human Evolution
A study of the evolution of the human is necessary for the understanding of his cultural needs.
http://www.onelife.com/evolve/manev.html
The Evolution of the Human
The universe is constructed from a multitude of various materials. It is dynamic in form and shape due to a multitude of various processes and interactions between these materials. To the human, however, in his need to establish his place and purpose in the universe, the most important material is biological and the most important process is evolution, far it is only here that the human can learn to understand himself, an understanding that is vital to his survival.
Wise men, psychologists, philosophers and theologians have surmised and conjectured about the human over the centuries, and still do, but the truth about the human may be found only through factual knowledge. That factual knowledge lies in a process called evolution. The human is what evolution made him. HOMO HABILIS The first Homo 2.2-1.6 million years ago

Evolution Table of Contents (Clicking on the links below will take you to that part of this article)
Ancient Greek Views If the mechanical view is to be found in these philosophers, the teleological occurs in Heraclitus, who conceives the process as a rational development, in accordance with the Logos and names steps of the process, as from igneous air to water, and thence to earth. The Stoics followed Heraclitus in the main lines of their physics. The primal principle is, as with him, igneous air. only that this is named God by them with much greater definiteness. The Godhead has life in itself, and develops into the universe, differentiating primarily into two kinds of elements the finer or active, and the coarser or passive. Formation or development goes on continuously, under the impulse of the formative principle, by whatever name it is known, until all is once more dissolved by the ekpyrosis into the fundamental principle, and the whole process begins over again. Their conception of the process as analogous to the development of the seed finds special expression in their term of logos spermatikos . In one point the Stoics differ essentially from Heraclitus. With them the whole process is accomplished according to certain ends indwelling in the Godhead, which is a provident, careful intelligence, while no providence is assumed in Heraclitus.

A definitive survey of the the current state of knowledge regarding Human origins, with bibliography.
I must say, though, that even though this survey was written in August of 1997, a brief review of similar sites on the web recently showed me nothing that is as comprehensive, concise, complete and well documented as this. Most information available on the web is outdated, much is innacurate, vague and/or ambiguous. Some pages appear unwilling to adopt or even suggest a position on any issue even remotely controversial. This writer has put forth those theories which he feels are substantially documented, offering alternative viewpoints when warranted. This researcher is both a Lumper and a Splitter. Please give appropriate credit when citing this document and/or its sources. Comments are appreciated, especially new information. Challenges to the positions advocated are welcome, and are best recieved with an authoritative source included, so that I may follow up. An updated version is in progress. The citation links are now working. Thank you to all who made suggestions.
