General Information
Back to top The European Biophysical Societies' Association (EBSA) was formed in 1984 as a non-profit making organisation, with the objectives "to advance and disseminate knowledge of the principles, recent developments and applications of biophysics, and to foster the exchange of scientific information among European biophysicists and biophysicists in general." It is composed of the Biophysical Societies in the European area, and is managed by an Executive Committee. A full list of member Societies and their officers is attached. EBSA maintains close links with Springer Verlag, the publishers of the European Biophysics Journal. The European Biophysical Journal is owned by EBSA.

Description
Molecular and Cellular Neuroscience publishes original research of exceptional significance or novelty from those areas of the neurosciences indicated by the broadest interpretation of the journal's title. As part of the submission process, authors are asked to state why they consider their paper is of such significance or novelty.
Furthermore, since rapid peer-review and publication of such research is of paramount importance, extended cycles of article revision and re-review will not be entered into; it is anticipated that authors will fully address all referees' comments during the course of a single revision of their original manuscript.

Physiologia Plantarum An International Journal for Plant Biology Published on behalf of the Scandinavian Society for Plant Physiology Edited by: 2004: 31/138 (Plant Sciences) Impact Factor: The aim of Physiologia Plantarum is to publish original research that advances our understanding of the primary physiological and molecular mechanisms governing plant development, growth and productivity. The journal therefore welcomes papers on aspects of experimental plant biology ranging from molecular and cell biology, biochemistry and biophysics, to ecophysiology, thereby maintaining contact among the different organizational levels of plant biology. Physiolo gia Plantarum also publishes Minireviews and Technical focus papers, with the aim of providing a forum for the exchange of information on recent breakthroughs and technical advances. Regular manuscripts Regular papers should present original hypothesis-driven research in one of the five subject areas covered by the journal (Biochemistry and metabolism; Ecophysiology, stress and adaptation; Uptake, transport and assimilation; Development, growth and differentiation; Photobiology and photosynthesis). The experiments described should address questions pertinent to the research topic and the outcomes should advance our understanding of the processes being studied, not simply repeat known results in a different species.

Greetings from the Chair Faculty Research Interests Research Facilities Graduate Studies ... Departmental Office List of Postdoctoral Associates and Students The Department of Physiology and Biophysics plays a unique role in biological research. It is in effect a conduit through which the powerful techniques and tools of the physical sciences are brought to bear on significant problems of biological importance. The range of problems being addressed in the Department runs the gamut from understanding functionally important atomic scale motions of proteins to characterizing complex behavior on the cellular through organelle level. The tools being used to pursue these cutting edge problems include state of the art instrumentation for magnetic resonance, laser and synchrotron radiation spectroscopies as well as extensive computer modeling. The strength of the Department stems not only from the significant problems that are being aggressively addressed by the departmental faculty, but also from the resources and the collaborative spirit within the department.

The Department of Molecular Biophysics was established in Lund in 1988. The Department is located within the Center for Chemistry and Chemical Engineering (Kemicentrum) which is probably the largest research unit for chemistry in Scandinavia hosting all chemistry divisions within Lund University. The division of Molecular Biophysics is focussing on the analysis of the structure and function of biological macromolecules. It is exceedingly hard to get an understanding of the function of a macromolecular system without information of its structure. The main method has been x-ray diffraction but a group active in electron microscopy will join the department shortly. In addition a group focussing on bioinformatics, particularly the structural aspects of it has recently joined us. In bioinformatics the relationship between sequence–structure-function or between different structures is the main interest. These methods together with NMR form the basis of the field structural biology. The laboratory is well equiped for modern X-ray crystallographic and molecular biology research. We also serve the X-ray crystallography beamline BL711 at MAXII synchrotron.
