Most of the venues were especially built for the events. It was a very international city for 2 weeks. There were tourist and athleats from all over the world. You would walk around Darling Harhour and you would hear all the different accents. It was wonderful. I attended some sporting events. As you can imagin it was packed with people and was a very hot day. I went to see Equestrian and weight lifting. ( that was the only tickets available at the door) :) The venues are still running all types of sporting activities.

This first world water extravaganza in North America is back from the dead after the International Swimming Federation pulled it out of Montreal for lack of sponsors last January and after the death of its chief organizer, Yvon Desrochers. With 2,300 athletes and coaches from 160 countries taking part in swimming, diving, water polo, synchronized swimming and open-water swimming, it will be the largest multisport event to hit Montreal since the Olympics in 1976. The open-water swimming will be held at the Olympic rowing basin. It promises to be a tour de force by the world's greatest individual swimmer, six-time Olympic champ Michael Phelps of the United States; the powerful Australian swim team, led by freestyler Grant Hackett; and the Chinese divers, readying for the Beijing Olympics in 2008.
