It can be played in the smallest of gardens, on any surface and despite there being very little running about, it manages to tire you out. Swingball consists of a base that is weighted down with water or sand. A variable pole fits into the base onto which the ball - it can be a tennis ball or a football - is attached. The aim of the game is to swing the ball around the spiral section of the pole. Balls, tether and spare parts can be bought separately so once you have the base, you can swap between versions. The tennis version can be played by one or two people and takes up less space. Soccer Swingball can be played by any number and according to professional footballer Teddy Sheringham, who plays Swingball at home with his son Charlie: 'It's always great fun and ideal training.' Att: 76,798 "They're not laughing at us now" -This is the headline that one newspaper chose following England's rampaging victory over one of Europe most accomplished international sides. For the Dutch their widely admired concept of 'Total Football' gave way to 'Total Annihilation'. This was quite simply the best performance I have ever seen an England side play. To score four goals in any game is special, to do it against a side of the calibre of the Dutch is extraordinary, to do it in a major championship -at Wembley- is the stuff fantasies are made of. It almost seems like nit-picking to dissect the individual performances of the England team when their contribution as a whole was so admirable. Perhaps the impact such an England accomplishment has on the tournament, and more importantly their likely opponents, should be the subject most worthy of closer examination. Nevertheless seventeen million people tuned in to watch an England side playing at Wembley in their final Group 'A' game -knowing that a draw would be good enough for both sides to reach the quarter finals. The Dutch team, glittering with the jewels of talent that are the likes of Bergkamp, Kluivert, Winter, Witschge, Cruyff and De Boer came to Wembley the side to beat, the side to admire, and the side to favour.

- WHO'S WHO Thursday, July 18, 2002 England's Teddy Sheringham
(ShaunBotterill/Allsport) Teddy Sheringham Club: Tottenham Hotspur Shirt Number: Position: Forward Date of Birth: April 2, 1966 Birthplace: Highams Park, London Height: Weight: Profile: Joined Manchester United in a £3.5million deal with Tottenham Hotspur, the club he followed as a boy. Began his career with Millwall, making 220 league appearances and scoring 93 goals. Bought by Nottingham Forest in 1991, and after a fruitful first season was sold to Spurs in a £2.1 million deal Bought to replace Eric Cantona in the link-forward role, he made United debut at White Hart Lane and sadly for him and amusingly for the Spurs boo-boys, he missed a penalty. After a bright start to his United career, he faded badly as United lost out to Arsenal's late charge for the Premiership title. His performances attracted the attention of the knockers and he was abused by both United and opposing fans. After spending most of the 1998/99 season sidelined by injury and the amazing performances of the Yorke-Cole axis, he returned to the first-team, usually as sub, to score some of the most important goals in United's history.

West Ham tonight completed the signing of striker Petr Mikolanda, after the Czech Under-21 international impressed on a pre-season trial. Mikolanda is, however, unlikely to be the answer to Alan Pardew’s hunt for a top-class striker, but the West Ham manager saw enough potential in the 20-year-old to offer him a contract at Upton Park.

World Cup 2002 News Match Reports Euro 2000 News Match Reports Search this site: Champions League - Manchester United 1 Kyiv Dynamo First Published: Nov 08, 2000 Manchester United did enough to progress to the last sixteen of the Champions League thanks to a Teddy Sheringham goal. An amazing miss in the 84th minute by Kyiv substitute Demetradze let a sluggish United off the hook though. He met a low cross from the right in front of goal and unmarked but he steered the ball wide of goal with Barthez beaten. United had only a David Beckham free kick on target before they took the lead in a move that featured veteran forward Teddy Sheringham three times. First he whipped a fifty metre high pass into the run of Andy Cole but the striker could not use the space in front of him and the ball held up. Cole knocked the ball behind Ryan Giggs on the left wing and the Welsh star released Cole again into space with a neat back heel. Cole's scuffed cross was swept to to the right of goal by Sheringham to Roy Keane whose low volley was saved by Shovkovski into the path of Sheringham who fell and stabbed the ball in a looping shot over the goalkeeper into the net. Keane put a half volley on target in the 27th minute but Giggs limped off to be replaced by Quinton Fortune which robbed United of their best attacking option as the winger was dominating the left hand side and was enjoying a lot of space.
