Romario has denied he was quitting soccer, a day after Brazilian media reported that he was retiring, local news agencies said. “I’m not quitting,” Romario said Wednesday. On Tuesday, the 38-year-old striker was quoted by O Globo news agency as saying he “can’t do it anymore.” Romario also said he planned to play one final game to say farewell to fans at the Maracana Stadium some time in the second half of 2005. But on Wednesday he clarified his comments. “I said I was more or less without desire, but that doesn’t mean I am quitting,” he said, reported Agencia Folha. “I have the physical and technical conditions to play at least one more year,” Romario said, adding he wanted to dispute the Rio de Janeiro state championship for Vasco, where he began his career. Semi-final put off Tokyo: The second leg of a Tiger Cup semi-final has been postponed after the weekend’s deadly Asian tsunami, South-east Asian soccer officials said on Thursday. Malaysia and Indonesia, both hit by the devastating tidal waves that swept the Indian Ocean on Sunday, were scheduled to meet in Kuala Lumpur on New Year’s Day. However, the match will now be played 48 hours later, on Monday, as a mark of respect for the victims following a plea from Malaysian Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi. Malaysia lead Indonesia 2-1 after the first leg.

Tonights episode, Worldwide Soccer '97 : Special guest star reviewer Ripple. "Booosh, Eat My Goal!"
"Geeeeettttt Innnnn!"
"R-o-m-a-r-i-o!!!!"
OK, you've seen the advert, you've read the hype, but is Sega Worldwide Soccer '97 really that good? You're bloody right it is! It starts with an amazing intro sequence before throwing you into the coolest football sim. EVER! The graphics are outstanding, coupled with the movement of the players and the seemingly endless repetoir of tricks and skills they can pull off makes this possibly the best sports game of the year. The gameplay is fantasticly dynamic, especially with the individual star players on the teams who can move faster or with better balance than others. Outstanding! Since getting this game, it hasn't left the Saturn, and the saturn hasn't been turned off. It's even got my girl housemates into footie because it's so impressive just to watch and so easy to pick up. There's a nice player edit feature which allows you name the teams properly, or (as my mate Lloyd has done) put yourself upfront with Romario. The commentary from Italian footie's Gary Bloom is really good at first, but because it's limited in its vocabulary can really get on your tits after 2 weeks of "Look at his control, he's not afraid to take players on, he's going all the way on his own."

Hello!
Some of the storys of my favorite Players !!
A Biography about Pele
Edson Arantes do Nascimento, more widely admired by the world as "Pelé", was born on October 23, 1940, in a small village in Brasil called Três Corações in the Brasilian state of Minas Gerais. He was baptized in the municipal church called Igreja da Sagrada Família de Jesus, Maria e José. His father, João Ramos do Nascimento, or Dondinho, as he was known in the soccer world, was also a professional player. He was well-known as one of the best-heading players in his time. He was a center forward for Fluminense until an injury kept him from playing professional division one soccer. His mother Celeste gave Pelé and the rest of his family attention to their needs and a lot of love. When he was a child, Pelé and his family moved to Baurú, in the interior of the Brasilian state of São Paulo, where he learned to master the art of futebol. One day he himself confessed that he "tinha três corações [had three hearts]", referring to the city where he was born, Três Corações, and to Baurú and Santos.

AS SOCCER DIGEST CONTINUES TO celebrate its silver anniversary, we look back at the best club teams in the worldfrom Europe, South America, and even the United Statesduring the magazine's lifetime. This was no simple task. Winning the European Cup or the Champions League (which replaced the former competition in 1992) did not necessarily translate into a place in the top 25. And, because a quarter of a century is such a wide expanse, teams are allowed to be listed multiple times. For example, it would be unfair to mix the Bayern Munich teams of the 1970s with the ones of recent vintage. It would be even worse to have to choose between the two editions.

      TIME RUNNING OUT?
When the chips were down and the pressure was on, Eriksson flopped both in Japan and in Portugal. But still he stayed. In the second instance, Palios in his folly had given him that crazy contract before a ball had even been kicked in the European Championship. Since the FA cannot afford to get rid of Eriksson, perhaps the only solution is to outflank him. To put alongside him but effectively above him, a part time English manager. After all, even now it is Steve McClaren, for better or worse, who bounced about on the touchline while Eriksson sits silent as a Buddha. Never better than remote and passive when the flak is really flying.
IN Italy, once disregarded players continue encouragingly to break through. The latest, the midfielder whose deflected shot gave Italy a draw in Glasgow against Scotland, is Fabio Grosso, born in Rome almost 28 years ago, he was overlooked by both Roma and Lazio, and found his way for four seasons to an amateur club, Renato Curi. The little C2 Chieto club, high on a hill, gave him his professional chance for three seasons, interspersed with a short spell at another C2 club, Teramo. At last, in 2001, Perugia took him to Serie A, transferring him to Palermo in January 2004, where he still plays. Stones that the builder rejected, you might say. The sad thing being that, in present day England, they too often roll into obscurity and stay there. It is by and large becoming a world made for 12-year-olds; and under. How many of whom are destined to fall by the wayside?

It was vintage Ronaldo at Yokohama, Japan as it took the Brazilian superstar a 67th minute goal off a rebound from a spectacular Rivaldo cannon that bounced off the chest of world best keeper Oliver Kahn and a second goal in the 79th minute to make history as Brazil's captain Cafu lifted the trophy the fifth time as winners of the 2002 world cup championship. With this win, Ronaldo at 25 ties Pele (soccer's all times great) with 12 goals and becomes the only player to score 8 goals in a world cup tournament, winning both the Golden Boot and MVP award the same night. In 1998, Ronaldo marred by an allegy that sidelined during the finals,he felt the pain as France beat his darling team by three goals to nothing.Ronaldo was faced with questions about what went wrong four years ago but now all those questions would be put to stop after the outstanding performance in Japan. Credit should be given to coach Scholari Felipe who took alot of heat after Romario was dropped from the final list of players to Japan. The Romario controversy even drew the attention of the Brazilian president who demanded that Romario be added to the team but coach Felipe remained adamant and said he will bear the consequences if his team did not win the championship and this paid off at last for him (coach Felipe). In all the coach proved all critics wrong that he assembled mediocre players and Ronaldo silenced everybody, placing himself on the threshold of great names in the history of soccer.

In this picture are several players working on their moves by dribbling inside of an area. They might be practicing feints, moving into space or simply avoiding one anouther. But what is the relationship between this activity and soccer? Does this appeal to children? Is there any direction for the players, any goals? Will they learn where and when they should use the feints? Is there any chance that they will "see a real moment" when to use the feint? Does this drill help the players to develop a playing mentality ? Is it soccer? Dribbling through cones Dribbling in a circle. Shooting drill. Line passing. USA I'm 12 years old and my height is 5,6". Pretty bazzar, but true. I'm a girl, but I play goalie...as you could've guessed from the name. Next year I'm moving up to Junior High Soccer, and the height I belive does effect how many goals someone can score. It's simple really. They can run down the field a little faster. They can kick the ball, split, and reclaim it faster. They can head-butt it higher...usually. Trust me, not always can we do all this, but I most of the time don't even get a chance to! Sometimes even the taller people can juggle it into the goal!!! Well, I;'m over and out!
